Help students find out main idea of each paragraph by skimming and scanning.

Difficult points: understand Charlie Chaplin’s humor.

Teaching procedure: Step 1.

Lead-in

Ask students to enjoy a short video to bring about the topic: humor. T: how many kinds of humor do you know? (Comedy, cross talk, sketch, funny story/poem/ joke...) At the end, the teacher introduces students Mr. Bean, the famous British mime actor, and tells earlier before him, there is a master of mine, and he is called “the master of nonverbal humor”. in this way, the teacher finally introduce what is going to talk about.

Step 2.

Pre-reading

Ask students some questions: 1.What do you know about Charlie Chaplin? 2. According to the title and the picture, what may be talking about?

Then introduce Charlie Chaplin—He is one of the most famous humourists that can make others laugh all the time. He was a great silent movie star. Modern Times, The Little Tramp, The Gold Rush, City Light are his masterpieces.

Step 3.

Reading

The purpose of this reading is to introduce nonverbal humor. This reading material takes Charlie Chaplin for example. It tells us what nonverbal humor means; what is Charlie Chaplin’s style of acting; how he made a sad situation entertaining and so on.

An animal sports meeting was going on.

教学反思

作为一名四年教龄的年轻教师，我想说几乎每年每学期都会有逃不开的公开课，但是每一次都是受益匪浅，终身难忘的。下面我就谈一下对这堂公开课的教学反思：

首先，我所讲述的内容是人教版高中英语必修4Unit 3 Reading A master of nonverbal humor. 已经带过一轮，这个课文也有自己以前做好的课件，然而3年后重新来上这篇课文，对自己以前教学设计已经有不同的思路。反复思考课本教材，想着怎么引入卓别林这篇文章。

教材设计是开门见山，提问找到幽默中的笑点，然后突然过渡到幽默的类型，包括国内外的幽默大师已经他们擅长的幽默类型，同时将幽默分为两类：nonverbal 和verbal，

并且提问： which do you like better and why? 说实话，对于教材有些部分的设计，有时冗杂，有时生僻，我是不太赞同的。

于是自己一直在思索，怎么轻松又自然的引入主题：幽默以及幽默的人。

先前自己的打算是因为前面几个单元所讲的都是great persons, 想着是先展示两张Jane Goodall和袁隆平的照片，然后提问：use adjectives to describe their personalities. 然后播放自己准备好的视频，再请学生使用形容词描述他们。

后来考虑到整个课堂时间的限制，决定直接播放视频引入主题。然后在这个基础上提问幽默的类型，逐渐引入英国喜剧幽默演员憨豆先生以及他的幽默类型：哑剧。

从而过渡到earlier before Mr. Bean, 有一位哑剧大师，因为他对无声电影的幽默表演，他被成为A master of nonverbal humor, 自然的过渡到卓别林。 在阅读过程中，教师首先采用prediction的阅读技巧方式，

引导学生在题目和图片的已有信息上，猜测的文章的内容。

自然的过渡到skimming的阶段，并且清晰的指导学生只阅读第一段和其它段落的第一句话。

通过这种方式锻炼学生快速获取文章基本大意的能力。

之后进行分段阅读，分别采取提问，判断

正误，看图说话和直接复述的方法开展careful reading. 课堂结束后，教师的感受是这个部分有些指令不够清晰，有点冗长。同时，阅读后直接复述原文这个题目很有难度，应该给出基本的提示动词，让学生看词组织语言，从而减轻他们的难度，使课堂更活泼，也可以增加学生的信心。 还有，教师发挥有点紧张，以至于忘记了去安排板书，虽然英语阅读课不用很复杂的板书，但是最基本的应该写个阅读题目的。同时，教师可以不复述学生的答案，直接给出对答案的评价，节约时间，同时也使其它学生不局限在教师复述的答案中，自主的发散自己的思维。或者在某个环节中采取小组学习，小组互动的模式，培养和锻炼一下学生自主的学历能力，使他们更加主动的，更加有思想的去学习，形成了积极的学习态度，促进了学生语言实际运用能力的提高。

教学是一门艺术，教无定法。

现在教师最大的感受就是教学模式也要因环境变化而变化，适合你的学生实际的就是最好的。教学也如逆水行舟，不进则退。我们平时要做有心人，加强学习，在新课程理念的指导下多思考，多实践，我们的教学水平才能逐渐提高。总之，保持教学的热情已经对学生的责任心，加油吧！
