In this period, there is a part designed to practice speaking and reading. In order to make students have a thorough idea of qualities great people have in common.

学Step 2.Warming up This activity is to encourage students to become aware 过about the concept of what makes a great person. The adjectives provided in this section are to stimulate this process. 程

Step 3.Pre-reading This is a key part of the unit. It is important because it is where students examine the difference between a famous and a great person and think of the qualities that are needed to make a great person. Step4 Reading The purpose of this reading is to introduce students to the qualities and abilities that make Nelson Mandela such an interesting person to study.Not only was he able to inspire many to follow him despite many difficulties but he became an international symbol for fairness and justice. Many people in the world were so inspired by him that they followed the ANC call for a boycott of South African goods sent abroad for export.It was hoped that economic pressure from abroad would help to change the political system and make life fairer for all in South Africa.But it was the black people of South Africa who had to put the greatest pressure on the government to make change .T he story is told from their point of view. Elias tells the story so that students do not lose sight of the problems that so many black people had to face in South Africa before black majority rule. Fast reading 1.Skimming (设计意图:引导学生快速浏览课文,把握文章中的人物关系,找到基本信息,并能就这些信息进行判断和甄别,培养他们快速准确捕捉信息的能力.同时,就相关信息中涉及的难词,难句进行简单解释，初步扫清学生的阅读障碍。）
