Book9 Unit1 Breaking Records Teaching Aims: Knowledge Aim: 1. Students will know about some new words. 2. Students will know something more about Ashrita Furman. Ability Aim: 1. Students' reading ability can be improved by reading the passage in different ways. 2.Students's ability of logic thinking can be trained. Emotional Aim: After this lesson, students will konw the deep meaning of " the road is always ahead of you". Teaching Key Points and Difficult Points: Key Points: Students can grasp some details of the passage and read it in different ways.

Difficult Points: How to encourage students to have their own thought and positive altitude of life. Teaching Aids: The blackboad, chalk, multi-media Teaching Methods: Task-based Teaching Method, Situational Teaching Method, Communicative Approach. Teaching Procedures: Step One: Warming uo (3 mins) 1.Daily greeting 2. Show some pictures about the Olympic Games, such as Hurding, Swimming, Weight lifting and Boxing. Step Two: Pre-reading (2mins) Q: If you meet the difficulities, would you like to choose give up or go ahead? Step Three: While- reading(20mins)

1. Global reading (5mins) Give students 5 mins to read the whole passage quickly and get the main idea of it. Invite one student to write the main idea down on the blackboard. 2.Detailed reading(15mins) (1)IAsk students to put the passage into three parts. Then let one student give the answer and others check. (2)Invite one student to read the first part, and others answer one question. Q: Over the last 25 years, how many Geunness records did Ashrita Furman break? (3)Invite another students to read the part 2, and ask one student to answer the following question. Q: When did Ashrita begin to search for a deeper meaning in life? (4) Read the last part together and answer one question. Q: Where is the perfect road?

Step Four:Post-reading (15mins) 1. Read the passage loudly in 5 mins and discuss two questions. Q1: Where do you think Ashrita lives? Q2:Do you think that the events that Ashrita participates in are childish? Why or why not? Step Five: Summary and Homework(5mins) 1.
