Unit 4 Wildlife Protection

Using Language Animal Extinction （Extensive reading & speaking & Writing）

The content of my lesson is Senior English for China Student’s Book 2 Unit 4 Wildlife protection. I will begin the lesson from the following five parts.

--Analysis of teaching material

--Analysis of students --Teaching methods and aids --Teaching procedures --Blackboard design I. Analysis of teaching material 1.1 Book material New senior English for China Book 2 Unit 4, which is the second book of grade 1. 1.2 Teaching material This unit is to introduce to us the importance of wildlife protection. The using language is the last period of this unit, which aims to improve the students’ abilities in actual practice.

It is made up of three parts in this part, that is, to put on developing students’

reading ability by extensive reading (the passage about dinosaurs in using language on page 30 and Reading Task on page 65 ), to encourage students to think creatively to express intentions and purposes, and to stimulate students to write a letter to WWF. 1.3 Teaching aims (1) Knowledge aims:

--To know some basic information about the endangered animals’ problems. (2) Ability aims:

--To develop students' reading skills by extensive reading.

--Enable students to learn how to express intentions and apologies.

--To learn a way to complete a letter. (3) Emotional aims:

--To help students understand the importance of the wildlife protection and make them be more active in the helping wildlife.

--To develop students’ sense of cooperative learning

1).To develop students’ reading skills by extensive reading.

2). Enable Ss to use the expressions of intentions and purposes properly.

3).To let Ss learn to write a letter based on a certain structure. Teaching

1).Enable Ss to learn to use reading strategies such as skimming, scanning, and so on.

2).Develop students’ speaking and writing abilities.

1.5 Teaching theories --Communicative Language Teaching

--Task-based Language Teaching --Computer Assisted Language Teaching II. Analysis of students As to the students of class 3&4, most of them are poor English learners. They show little interest in learning English. They are lack of vocabulary and confidence. Therefore, during the teaching process, the teacher should focus on how to arouse their learning interest in English. In addition, the teacher should teach them the proper way to learn English and encourage them to learn English well.

Although the students have the basic abilities of listening, speaking,

reading, and writing, they still need many opportunities to practice what they have learned, to express their ideas, feelings, and experience and to develop their autonomous learning ability and cooperative learning ability. III. Teaching methods and aids 3.1 Teaching methods

--limit hunting & Forbid people to kill endangered animals --avoid buying any products made from endangered animals.

--ask people to protect wildlife & Collect money to protect them. Step 5 Writing (8’)

Write a letter to WWF based on what you have discussed, asking them to help you save endangered animal. All letters have a start and ending.
