设计主题：However常考用法讲解

设计思路：However“然而；

无论如何”是历年高考英语的常考考点，

在听力，阅读，完形填空，语法填空和短文改错当中均有可能出现，甚至写作中也会使用。

所以, 很有必要让学生掌握。因此，我打算借助于中国达人秀中的断臂钢琴师，来使学生形象的掌握however的用法。这样，不仅使学生学到了知识，还可以激励和鼓舞他们成为坚强的人。

内容分析：However主要有以下用法: 1.

副词，表示转折：意为“然而”“不过”

“仍然”等。可放在句首、句中或句末，通常用逗号与句子其他成分隔开; 2. 副词，表示让步，意为“无论如何，不管多么”

用来修饰形容词和副词，形成常见结构：however + adj./adv.+主语+谓语。3. 表示惊奇或强调：其意为“究竟怎样，到底以什么方式”。

学情分析：大部分学生会知道However的第一个意思-----“然而”“不过”

“仍然”，但是也仅限于However位于句首，如果位于句中，句末就不太会理解了；还有不太能与but 进行区分。另外，

也不是很熟悉However 的第二个重要意思“无论如何，不管多么”。

Teaching aims:

1.知识目标Guide students to know the main usage of “However”，and learn to use it correctly and flexibly. 2.

情感目标

Encourage students to be brave and strong.

Teaching key points: 1.“However”表“然而”位于句中，句末的用法。

(设计原因：After the investigation, I find it is difficult for students to understand these two aspects.）

Teaching procedure: Step I.

Lead in. Hello, everyone! Today I’d like to introduce a word and a big boy to you. The word is of great importance in our English learning, and the big boy will help you to remember the word. Are you eager to know them? Ok, I’ll show you the word first----However.

(设计意图：To inspire students’ desire to learn the word. ) Step II. The usage of “however”

1. Guide students to understand the following 3 sentences, especially the 2nd and the 3rd ones.

(设计意图：Guide students to understand “however” in 3 different positions, especially in the middle of the sentence and at the end of the sentence.）

★adv. 表示转折：尤其用于谈及一个既成事实时，表示转折，其意为“可是”“然而”“仍然”等。可放在句首、句中或句末，通常用逗号与句子其他成分隔开如：

My room is small; however,

it’s comfortable.

我的房间很小，但却很舒服

My father, however, did not agree.

但是，我父亲不同意。

He said that it was so; he was mistaken, however. 他说情况如此，可是他错了。

Ask students to find the difference between

“however” and “but”

(注意句中的标点符号)。

(设计意图：make sure that students can tell the difference between “however”

正：We all tried our best, but we lost the game. 正：We all tried our best; however, we lost the game. 正：We all tried our best. However, we lost the game. 

however比but用的场合更正式, however常用于书面语, 而but 常用于口语.



however后有","

而but 没有.



另外, however的意思还不只局限于"但是, 然而" 2. Introduce a big boy without hands(断臂钢琴师，李伟) by showing his photo and watching a video.

He has no hands. However, he can play the piano so well. Ask students to pay attention to the sentence below the picture and draw the following conclusion. (设计意图：Help students to remember the meaning of “however”

vividly.) ★adv. 表示让步，意为“无论如何，不管多么”，用来修饰形容词和副词，

形成常见结构：however + adj/adv+主语+谓语。这样用的however其实具有连词的功能，用以引导让步状语从句。

如:

However hard (it is), I will never give up!However rich you are, I won’t marry you.

此时，意义上等于no matter how. 用法上比no matter how更万能，有时可有所省略，如：

A grammar rule, however true (it is), is useless unless it can be understood. 一条语法规则，不管如何正确，除非能懂，否则毫无用处

3. Ask students a question: However did he manage to play the piano with feet? Then guide students to understand the meaning of

“however” in this sentence. (设计意图：再次利用这位断臂钢琴师的付出与成就，激发学生了解however的另一个意思。同时，也是对学生精神上的一种激励)

★表示惊奇或强调：其意为“究竟怎样，到底以什么方式”。如However did you get here without a car?

没有汽车你究竟是怎样来的呢? However did he manage to play the piano with feet?

他究竟是怎样设法用脚弹钢琴的呢？

Step III. Practice

给学生展示三道高考真题，来检测前几步学习的掌握情况，以及进一步使学生能灵活运用however。

高考以however切入命题的可能性主要有两个方面：

1. 直接考查however的用法。

2. 用however作为干扰项进行考查。如：

典型高考真题：

1). Queen Elizabeth II is often thought to be the richest woman in the world.

However, her personal wealth seems rather small. (2012安徽) 2). An awful accident did, however，occur the other day. 3). However hard you try, it is difficult to lose weight without cutting down the amount you eat. (2012湖南) Step IV. Summary & Homework 1. Ask 3 students to write the 3 sentences about the big boy on the blackboard (sentences in red). Lead students to summarize the main usage of “however”.

2. Ask students to pay attention to “however” wherever it appears after class and try to understand it.

(设计意图：Let students summarize the usage thoroughly and vividly.)

成功之处：The lesson did attract students’ attention, students did grasp the usage of

“however” and they were inspired to be strong. What’s more, I believe they can hardly forget it. 不足之处：However 其实还有一个意思“无论以何种方式，

不管怎样”，

用以引导方式状语从句；另外，However与whoever，

whatever, whichever 等的区分也是一个考点，但是斟酌之后还是把它省略了。以后可以作为另一个微课选题。
