Unit 1 Cultural Relics I.

Analysis of the teaching materials: For this period, we will discuss about the cultural relics, it is a chapter which is very attractive to the students. In this section, we must warm up fully. II.

Analysis of the students: To establish their interest in the course, I’ll do more oral tasks and try to encourage them. III.

Teaching Aims: New words and expressions——cultural, survive, remain，state, rare, dynasty, vase, heat, design, fancy, style, jewel, king, artist, reception, light, mirror, wonder, remove, furniture; I must say that I agree with you. I must say that I don't agree with you. As far as I'm concerned, I think... As I see it... Don't you agree /think (that)... I can't help thinking (that)... I would like to say... Teaching difficult and important points: The students must be encouraged to speak more in class. They will learn by discussing and expressing. V.

Teaching methods: Whole language teaching approach; Communicative language teaching approach; Discussion and group work. Paraphrase. VI.

Teaching process: Firstly, do the warming up ——

the class will be divided into six groups to discuss the theme of cultural relics. Everybody must express as much as he or she can. Secondly, I will ask one student to go to the stage to show what they have discussed. Then make a short conclusion. Thirdly, use the PPT to learn some new words and expressions. After that, do some fast reading in six minutes and then check the answers. Teach the students to read the difficult sentences in the passage.

Fourthly, use the PPT to explain some language points. Finally, do a conclusion of what we learn in this section. VII.

Practice and consolidation: Use the PPT to show the students some exercise, read the tittle together and then give them enough time to finish and check. VIII.

Homework: Read the text and new vocabulary after class. Finish the exercise book of this part. IX. Teaching reflections: The class atmosphere is very active and friendly, which can help the students to relax and express themselves more. But I still should lead them to understand the language points by asking effective questions and doing oral work.
