Unit 2 sailing the oceans (The greatest navigational journey: a lesson in survival) Introduction

Language is learned to be used in and for communication .Therefore, in this period we shall have the students read a narrative writing about sailing at sea. Meanwhile, try to consolidate the students’ reading skills. Namely, use fast reading to grasp the main idea of the passage and some details by means of careful reading .then try to improve their ability to speak by giving a specific topic for them to discuss, after which, the students will obtain the chance to write a relevant composition. Objectives

Warming up by sharing something about china’s aircraft carrier. China’s second aircraft carrier is on the progress .as we know , on April 26th

2017 , china’s first aircraft carrier set out on a sea trial under the Chinese flag ,which made all the Chinese very proud and excited .show some pictures of it. Then conclude it is quite safe and

easy to sail on a giant ship .afterwards , raise the following question “do you think it is still safe and easy to sail by means of a small boat?”

Fast- reading Let the students read the passage quickly to grasp the main idea and answer several questions intended to enhance their understanding

Careful-reading Guide the students to read the passage carefully and fill in the blanks to take in some details of the passage. 4.
