Type of lesson: reading, speaking and writing 2.

Analysis of the materials:

The reading passage of this unit is about various aspects of Australia, such as its geographical features, history, main cities, natural scenery, wildlife and customs. Students are supposed to be able to introduce places from various aspects using the phrases and sentence patterns. As Tangshan people, it is necessary for the students to be able to introduce its scenic spots. So this lesson is designed to introduce some scenic spots in Tangshan and arouse the students’

love for their hometown –

Tangshan as well as learn some important phrases to talk about places.

Teaching aims: 1>. Learn to focus on the key words while reading. 2>. Learn how to describe a place.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Warming up.

1>. Watch the short video “Welcome to Tangshan” and ask the students some questions about the scenic spots in Tangshan. 设计意图：激发学生学习兴趣和对家乡唐山的热爱并引入本课主题----介绍景点。

Step 2 Divide the students into three parts and read different passages to find some phrases about location, area, transportation, fame and evaluation.

设计意图：通过学生分组阅读三篇关于唐山景点的文章（曹妃甸湿地，

唐山三湾和清东陵），了解唐山本土文化并有意识地关注介绍景点的词汇并为接下来的输出做准备。

With the joint effort of the government and the hardworking Tangshan people, Nanhu park has taken on a new look, of which we Tangshan people are really proud. Here students’ love for their hometown is aroused more deeply. 设计意图：通过观看对比照片进一步激发学生对家乡之爱，使学生在接下来的输出任务中善于表达、乐于表达。
