Ⅰ【Analysis of the teaching materials and the students】

1.

Analysis of the teaching materials: In this part, there is a listening practice, which is a funny story and not difficult for Ss.But I find the exercises are a little complicated, so I will rearrange them to give Ss a better understanding of the material. And then there is a reading task about a famous April Fool’s joke in Britain’s

history. It’s quite surprising that people at that time would believe the noodles grow on trees. With their curiosity, Ss will be asked to find out why this happened. Last, there is a speaking practice. Ss will be offered a chance to tell their own funny story in front of the whole class.I have based all these pats on the original textbook but made some adjustments as well. 2.

Analysis of the Ss：This lesson is intended for Class 19, Grade 1, who are interested in English and have been familiar with the topic of this unit—humor. Since the beginning of this unit, Ss have been asked to write a funny story and been prepared to tell it to the class. So in this lesson, I believe they will perform well, especially in the last step. As for their comprehension of other students’ stories, there may be some uncertainty. Anyway, telling a story will be a good way to improve their English sense of humor. Ⅱ【Teaching content】

Through this lesson students’ abilities of listening, reading and speaking have been strengthened. In the Reading part, they read quickly with curiosity and in the Speaking part, they tried their best to tell their stories, which impressed me a lot. It reminded me to give them more chances to perform in front of class in the future. It is really beneficial to them. But there also appeared some problems in Listening part and Reading part. In the Listening part, especially partⅡ, they still need more time to set down the words for each blank. So later when I design such items, I need consider more of their Eglish levels. And in the reading part, I found some students couldn’t follow my class well, which I think is a reminder for me to pay attention to those who have difficulty in learning English. And also I should give them more encouragement and praise for their good performance. All in all, I think this is a good lesson. We had good cooperation and Ss showed great interest and participation in this class. This is also what is required by our New Curriculum Standards. To teach English well, I still have a long way to go.
