Late for School Teaching Plan

Teaching Aims:

1.

Ss learn to make the pictures of the story in order after reading. 2.

Ss learn to describe the stories part by part. 3.

Ss learn to know the importance of planning well.

Important Point:

Ss learn to read and get the information from the story.

Difficult Point:

Some language points like spots, dresses, on the path

Teaching Procedure: Step1. Before Reading 1.

Greeting 2.

Present a bag, and ask What’s this?

Then ask the students to guess the picture in the bag.(Answer: elephant)

Step 2. During Reading 1.

Present the story cover and let Ss describe it. 2.

What’s the name of the story? ( Late for School). Present the title. Ss ask questions about the story.

Ss watch the the first part of the story.(pages from 2-11) Think: Is he late for school? Ss answer the question and say reasons. 4.

Ss find out the sentences for being late for school.

(page 3:It cannot be 8:15! I will be late for school!) Ss read the sentences.

5.

Ss read and act for pages 2 to 5.

What happens at the beginning of the story?

Ss look at the words and pictures to describe the part. 6.

Use action to help Ss say out Then Ed runs to school. Make Ss mime the actions and say the sentences. Ask On his way to school, who does Ed meet?

What do the animals say? 7.

CAI Game: Dragging the sentences to match animals. Ss say and drag. Ss look at the board pictures, words and the screen sentences to retell the part. Ss guess what Max will say.

T: Is Ed late for school or not? Let’s go on watching. Play the 2nd part of the story.(pages from 12-15) 9.

T: How do you know? Ss read the words about Max.

Let Ss act like Max.

What happens in the end? Ss learn to read pages 14 and 15 after their pads. Then they look at the keywords and pictures to retell the part.

Step 3. After Reading 1.

Make the pictures in order. Describe the picture and put pictures in the correct boxes. 2.

T: Why does Ed think he’ll be late for school? Because he doesn’t know it’s a ….

So he needs to plan well. Plan well, then we can live well. 3.

Ss help Ed make plans for his school days and no school days. -
