设计思想：

《课标》语言技能八级目标关于“读”的方面要求能通过分析句子结构，理解难句和长句，能理解阅读材料中不同的观点和态度，根据学习任务的需要，从多种媒体中获取信息，并进行加工处理；语言知识八级目标关于“话题”要求熟悉有关风俗习惯，科学文化和文学艺术等方面的话题；情感态度八级目标要求能用英语恰当地表达自己的情感态度和价值观，在用英语交流的过程中，能理解语言隐含的情感态度和价值观。

根据以上课标要求，本节课将通过predict, skim, scan等阅读策略来训练学生从文本中获取信息、分析信息、总结大意的能力，帮助和指导学生通过分析文中的难句长句，了解句子的结构，以达到理解句子的目的。在语言输出阶段，通过合作学习和探究的形式，让学生能够运用本节课所获取的相关信息和话题语言清楚的对袁隆平进行简单的介绍。

教情分析: 本单元的中心话题是“农业”，内容涉及我国著名的杂交水稻专家袁隆平的贡献、化肥对土地耕种的影响以及开展有机生态耕种等。本单元的语言知识和语言技能都是紧密围绕这一主题设计展开的。

“热身”（Warming Up）部分围绕有关农业，农村和农作物种植的内容设计了三组问题，让学生进行讨论，相互间交流他们对农村和农业劳动的业务的认识和经验。

“读前”（Pre-reading）部分设计了三个问题。第一个问题是让学生看图和世界卫生组织的统计数据，并思考反应出来的问题。第二个问题让学生思考如果明天突然没有了水稻，将会发生什么。第三个问题让学生通过本单元阅读文章的标题和图片，猜测本篇文章谈论的主要内容。以上三个递进式问题的设计，力图激发学生已有的知识和经验，发挥学生的想象力来更好地理解课文。另外还可以激发学生的同情心和人道主义精神。

“阅读”（Reading）部分介绍中国著名的农业科学家袁隆平和他的巨大贡献。全文分四段。第一段讲袁隆平作为中国著名的农业科学家研制出了超级杂交水稻，但他却一直认为自己就是一个农民。第二段讲袁隆平的家庭背景，学业，以及他的科研情况。他研制的杂交水稻技术已应用到印度，越南等许多发展中国家。第三段讲袁隆平淡泊名利，无私奉献的高尚品质。他过着和普通人一样的生活，而将自己大部分的积蓄都用于科研。第四段讲袁隆平的工作理想和目标以及他热爱人民和为人民不断进取的精神。

“理解”（Comprehending）部分设计了四个练习，主要用来帮助学生更好地理解阅读课文的内容。练习1是填写表格要求学生根据课文的内容完成表格，检测学生的袁隆平生平的了解。练习2是释义题，要求学生运用不同的语法结构和词汇改写练习中的五个句子，保持句意不变。练习3是问答题，检测学生对课文的深层理解。练习4是小组讨论活动。要求学生针对课文中的主人公袁隆平这个人物展开讨论，引导学生独立思考，对人物作出评论，并发表自己的感想。在讨论的过程中，可使学生得到人生观和世界观的教育。

学情分析: 本阶段学生已经经过了高一前期大量的阅读训练，具备了略读、扫读获取信息以及根据上下文猜测词义的阅读技能，部分后进生基础相对薄弱，词汇量匮乏，以上所提到的相关阅读技能掌握较差。现阶段的学生对于人物传记类的文章题材并不陌生，且对袁隆平这个任务应该有所了解，但并不熟知，对其所做的贡献对人类的巨大意义缺乏深入的了解和进一步的思考。

Teaching Goals: After this period, Ss will be able to: 1.know about Yuan Longping’s scientific achievements and his contributions to the world.

2.learn from Yuan about his scientific spirits and attitudes towards life and fame. 3.use proper reading strategies such as close reading，word-guessing, paraphrasing and summarizing to achieve and process information from the text.

Teaching key points: Help Ss to achieve and process information from the text and get Ss to learn from Yuan about his scientific spirits and attitudes towards life and fame.

Teaching difficult points: Many words and expressions about agriculture may cause difficulty for Ss to understand the text.
