Unit 1 Book 2 Cultural relics Using language

1. Teaching Aims According to the new standard curriculum, the syllabus, and the teaching material, the teaching aims are as follows: 1.

Knowledge objects

(1)The Ss can grasp the key words, phrases and sentence structures to write a passage about local cultural relics

(2) The Ss can understand what are cultural relics. 2. Ability objects

(1) To develop the Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing

especially their writing abilities.

(2) To train the Ss’ abilities of studying in cooperation by themselves. 3. Emotion or moral objects Learn about cultural relics and understand the way to protect and deal with problems about certain cultural relic. Put the moral education in the process of study. 2. The Important and Difficult Points Learn how to write a passage and how to express their own opinions

The most difficult point is to how to apply what they have learnt to writing the debating passage. 3 . Analysis the students:

The Ss in Senior 1 have learnt enough vocabulary and It is not so difficult for them to speak English, undertake great pressure in English learning. Because English is different from the past, they have some problems in writing, which need to be solved.

Teaching and learning Methods

As is known to us all, a good teaching method requires that the teacher should help Ss develop a good sense of the English language. To achieve these teaching aims, I will use the following methods according to the modern social commu- nication teaching theories. 1. Communicative Approach(交际教学法) 2. Task-based Language Teaching (任务教学法) 3. Total Situational Action (情景教学) It is a “scene-activity”

teaching method, which establishes a real scene and the interaction between the teacher and the Ss. At the same time, CAI (电脑辅助教学) can provide a real situation with its sound and picture, it can develop the Ss creativity in learning English. 4. Learn before being taught. It has 4 steps:

(1) learn the new knowledge silently by themselves

(2) Have a discussion in a low voice to solve their puzzles with the help of each other. (3) Show what they discussed and then explain the difficulties by themselves. (4) Mark and comment on what they have learnt, discussed and shown by themselves. 5. Cooperation and autonomous exploration

Teaching Procedure Step 1. Lead-in. (3min) 1

Greet and play a related video, and then ask

1.What’s the film?

2.What is he doing? Why? Purpose of my design:

To arouse students' interest and lead in the topic for this lesson.

Step 2.Reading and listening

Task 1. Let boys read and girls listen, at the same time let some volunteers write the answers on the blackboard.

Task 2. Compete to be the first to translate into English.

Task 3. Answer the three questions? 1 ) What is the writer`s opinion? Why?

2 ) Can you name other culture relics in your city?

3 ) What should you do if you find it? Why? Purpose of my design: This part serves as presentation which lays the foundation for the rest of teaching process. It’s a convenient and quick step to practise Ss’ listening as well as briefly revise vocabulary and the passage. Step 3. Speaking.

Task 1. Discuss with your partner about the reasons of the questions above; Task 2. Write down at least 3 reasons；

Task 3. Debate, then decide which is a winner. Purpose of my design: collect more reasons and information for the writing. Step 4 Writing

Task 1. Analyse the example. 1) Structure: How many parts does the report contain? 2) Proper linking words:

3) Highlights: varied sentence structures and advanced vocabulary

Purpose of my design: While analyzing the example, I just try to cultivate Ss’ ability of autonomous study and using knowledge flexibly, and to know the structure of the writing.

Task 2. practice writing a composition :

1) show students` writings on the blackboard and ask students to discuss with the partner correct them;

2) ask the students to polish the writings. Purpose of my design:Writing is the important and difficult part in the teaching process. Ss should cooperate to write a composition based on what they have revised combined with real situations. Through this activity, I greatly help Ss to develop integrated skills in learning and using English.

Step 5. Homework Rewriting the composition on your book.(120 words)
