教学重点

Get the students to learn different reading skills and know more about Jane Goodall. 教学难点

1. Get the students to learn different reading skills for different reading purpose; 2. Develop Ss’ ability to acquire information through reading; summarize the methods of observing chimps and Jane Goodall’s achievements in chimp study and protection.

The multimedia and other normal teaching tools. 三维目标

Knowledge aims: Teach Ss how to describe a person and what kind of qualities a great person should possess. Get the students to learn about Jane Goodall and her achievements. Ability aims: 1. Develop the students reading ability and let them learn to use some reading strategies such skimming, scanning, and so on. 2. By reading A student of African wildlife, students can learn from Jane Goodall in at least two aspects

3. Ask students to discuss these questions:

1) What made her a great success? 2) What should we learn from Jane Goodall? Emotional aims: 1>

Let everyone protect wildlife and believe that all of us can become Jane Goodall. 2>

Make students aware of the importance of wildlife protection.

Reading

Teaching procedures: Greet as usual Step1:

lead-in Show the pictures in warming-up and discuss about the qualities needed to be a great woman. Elicit possible answers from students after a brainstorm.

Step 2 Pre-reading Get the Ss to read the title and pictures, and then have them predict the main content of the passage. Show them the videos about Jane Goodall in Gombe National Park. Step3 Reading 1. Skimming

Get the Ss to read the passage and find the answers to the four questions.1> Who is the student? (Jane Goodall) 2> What animals are observed? (chimps)

3> When did Jane Goodall arrive at Gombe? How old was she? (in 1960; 26 ) 4> Where did Jane Goodall suggest that the chimps be left? (in the wild) 2. Scanning 1. Let students read each paragraphs and answer the following questions. 1> What did the group do in the morning in the forest? (Para1）

2> What did she discovered? (Para2) 2. Read the text quickly to match the main idea of each paragraph. 3. Details-reading 1> Comprehending: use multiple choice questions to test students’ comprehension of the passage within limited period of time. 4. Language points 1> worthwhile adj. worth doing; worth the trouble taken

It is worthwhile to do /doing sth .做某事是值得的

be worth(one’s) while doing/to do sth. 值得做

eg: 这本书值得一读。

It is worthwhile reading the book. eg: 那个国家值得你一游。

It is worth(your) while to visit that country. 2> “Only+状语从句”置于句首，主句用部分倒装。

Only 在句首修饰作状语的副词或介词短语时，句子也要进行部分倒装；但在句首修饰句子的主语时，不用倒装。

eg: 你只有用这种方法，才能解决那个问题。

Only in this way can you solve the problem. eg: Only then did I realize that I was wrong. 只有在那时，我才意识到是我错了。

Today we learned about Jane Goodall’s story and we have learnt a lot from her. Our world will become a more beautiful one if we all treat the animals equally and show our love to them. We will succeed in overcoming any difficulties and achieving our goals if we can be as strong-willed as her. 2.

Let students enjoy a poem. Step 5: Homework 1. Read the passage fluently and recite the key sentences in the text.

2. Retell the story of Jane Goodall.

3. Choose one woman that you think great and try to describe her to your classmates and tell why you think she is great. Step: 6: The design of the writing on the backboard.
