Listening and Speaking ----Wild China

Analysis on learners: Our school students are not good at listening and speaking. It not only because their basic learning abilities are not very good, but because we have not enough time to teach them and help them do enough exercises. So in this class, I want to do some exercises to help them build up their confidence when they do speaking and listening exercises.

Knowledge aims: 1. Get students to learn some useful words and expressions. 2. Let students catch and understand some listening tips. Ability aim: Develop students’ listening and speaking ability

Emotional aims: 1. Let students feel proud of our great motherland----China. 2. Develop students’ sense of group cooperation and teamwork. Teaching key points: 1. Develop students’ listening and speaking ability.

2. Learn some new words and expressions Teaching difficulties: 1. Help students catch and understand some listening tips. 2. Encourage students to open their mouths and express their ideas bravely. Teaching methods: Task-based Language Teaching; Group work Teaching Aids: The multi-media; The blackboard

Teaching Procedures Step1: Warming up 1. Greet 2. Arouse students’ interest by talking freely: During Ching- Ming Festival(清明节), what did you do during your three-day holiday? (Purpose: Arouse students’ interest and introduce the content of this class.)

Show brief introduction about Wild China to

students. (Purpose: Let students get the summary of Wild China clearly.) 2.

Listening and enjoying

Pre-listening (1) Show some tips on listening to students. a. Read the passage quickly and get the general idea b. Pay attention to the key points. c. Take some notes while listening. (2) Help students learn some new words and expressions. (Purpose: Make sure the students have learned how to improve their listening and got enough information before listening.) While-listening: Task1: Listen to a short video from Wild China for the first time and ask students to answer two questions on the screen. Task2: Listen to the short video for the second time and ask students to fill in the blanks to complete the passage. (Purpose: Through practicing, students know what they should pay attention to while listening.) Post- listening: Ask students to enjoy the short video from Wild China and find what they can see in the short video. (Purpose: Let students feel proud of our motherland----China.) Step3: Speaking 1.

Guild the students to think about two questions on the screen and discuss them in groups. 2.

Invite some students to share their ideas with the whole class. (Purposes: 1. Encourage students to use some useful expressions to show their ideas bravely. 2. Develop students’ sense of group cooperation and teamwork.)

Step4: Self- assessment Summarize what students have learned in this lesson. (Purpose: Let students evaluate their performances in this class.) Step5: Homework Ask students to enjoy the rest of the video after class.
