Teaching Aims: Knowledge: Equip students with useful vocabulary and sentence structures in describing a famous place Skill: Enable students to prepare a speech to describe famous places Emotion: Arouse students’ love for the school and willingness to make it better-known Teaching Important and Difficult Points: 1.

Analysis of Teaching Object: The students have very high language proficiency, especially in speaking and writing. And they have just learnt the reading passage. So they are

familiar with the content as well as the structure of the passage.

Teaching procedures: Step 1 Reading 1.

Review: ask students to recall the names of the famous places in the reading passage. (2 minutes) 2.

Scan: go through the passage paragraph by paragraph to underline the sentences describing the famous sites and analyze the aspects covered in the sentences. (10 minutes) Step 2 Speaking 1.

Brainstorm all the aspects that should be mentioned when introducing a famous site. (1 minutes) 2.

Translate some sentences using the key vocabulary and sentence structures presented on the screen. (8 minutes) 3.

Present some basic information of our school. And ask students to make one sentence for each aspect mentioned above. (4 minutes) 4.

Ask students to combine the separated sentences into complex ones. Then present some example sentences for them to refer to. (4 minutes) 5.

Prepare a short speech in groups to introduce our school and present the speech to the whole class. When preparing, write down the outlines. (10 minutes) Step 3 Homework Ask students to write a complete speech based on the outlines they have

made in the last step. (1 minutes)
