If we compare a simple sentence to a human body, then the verb is just

like the heart of the sentence.

A pregnant woman can have two hearts in her body.

It’s just like a sentence with attributive clause.

I like the girl who is reading.

I like the girl and she is reading.

Functions of relative pronoun.

To connect the main clause and the attributive clause.
