1. To arouse students’ interest in learning English humor.

Teaching procedures: Step one. Self-study. (自学深思) (Students are required to finish this part before the class) 1. What is humor?

2. Read some stories or words of English humor.

Step two. Lead-in.

Students are going to watch some pictures and try to get the funny points from them. Step three. Reading and discussing.（交流互学）

1. Listen to the record and try to get the meaning of the dialogues. 2. Read the dialogues carefully and match each dialogue with its explanation.

3. Read a story of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend Doctor Watson, and try to get the funny points from it.

4. Discuss and figure out the differences between these two kinds of jokes. 5. Share the jokes with their group members and decide which one is the funniest one and then prepare to show it to the whole class.

Step four. Presentation.（展示点评）

Each group will present one joke to the class. Step five. Summary.（练后梳理）
