I. Teaching objectives:

The students can practice their ability of reading by skimming. They will be aware of

the structure of the passage.

② By scanning, the students will know how to get the main idea of each paragraph.

③ The students can get the details by careful reading.

Train the students’ ability to cooperate with others.

IV.Teaching procedures:

Step1. Warming up; pre-reading and leading in (1minute)

Warming up: Show the students a picture of Gulangyu Island to lead in. （2）Pre-reading and leading-in (3 minutes) Show the students pictures of the Amber Room, and ask questions: ①What’s this picture? ②Do you want to know more about the Amber Room? Let’s open the book turn to page 1, read the first paragraph and then finish the ID Card of the Amber Room.

Step2. While-reading (13 minutes)

（1）Skimming（8 minutes）: The students are required to go through the whole passage to match the main ideas with the paragraphs.(Task1)

According to Task 1, students try to get the structure of the passage. (设计意图：通过skimming,学生能够知道每一段的段落大意，通过引导，了解文章的结构。)

（2）Scanning（5 minutes）: Scanning the passage again, and then find out the time and the characters in the passage. (Task2)

(设计意图：通过Scanning，学生能够知道在哪个时间段，谁和琥珀屋有关系，符合文章阅读的顺序。)

（3）Careful reading: (15 minutes) Task3. Read Paragraph 2—5 and complete the time chat--what happened to the Amber Room in each period? (9 minutes)

Task4.Ask questions in details. (6 minutes) Q1. In Paragraph 2, what was the Amber Room first made for?

Q2. Read Paragraph 3 carefully, and describe the changes of the Amber Room. Q3.Read paragraph 4 and answer: How did the Amber Room get lost? (设计意图：通过学生完成时间轴，学生获取了琥珀屋相关的历史信息，并通过段落的再一次阅读，回答细节问题，对文章的细节理解进一步加深。)

Step3.Post-reading (10 minutes)

Task5. Groups’ activity (in group of 4): Retell the passage and fill in the blanks.
