ELIAS’ STORY

In this period, after the warming up, students will first be guided to talk about great people. Then they will be helped to read a narration entitled Elias’s story. It’s a story about a Elias helping Mandela working for the freedom of the black people.

Teachiong procedures: Step1 Lead—in ⑴

Warming up by reviewing the great people, like William Tyndale, Norman Bethune and SunYat-sen etc. (2) Warming up by getting to know Mandela

Scanning for specific information(discussion while Learning) Scan the test specific information according to the timeline in the passage. Step3

Skimming Ask the students to divide the passage into 2 parts according to the main time clue in the passage. Step4

Detailed information related to the 2 main parts. Step5 (Brainstorm) Discussing questions in groups of four students. After learning the passage, can you tell me what kind of person Mandela is? Step6 Homework.
