Analysis of the teaching materials教材分析

The lesson I’m gonna to talk is selected from the New Senior English for China Students Books published by the People’s Education Press. This passage is the reading part of Unit 1.And It's important and great help for the rest of the whole unit. The topic of this passage is cultural relics, which is interesting and useful for students to learn about. In addition, this part contains many news words, phrases, and the grammar of Restrictive attributive clause and Non-restrictive attributive clause, which are the obstacles for students to understand the whole passage.What I need to do is to help them grasp the main idea and some knowledge points and improve their reading efficiency by practicing reading skills.

Analysis of students学情分析

After a more than seven-year English study, my students have a certain degree of knowledge about English, including a certain number of vocabularies and some simple learning strategies and skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. However, the differences of students’ personality and English proficiency are large. Besides, senior high school students are less active in class compared with junior high school students. And they are lacking in the ability of using English in real life. So I’m gonna set some individual and group working tasks for them to offer more opportunities and help to communicate with each other and learn from each other.

Teaching aims:教学目标

The core of English curriculum includes three aspects: language ability, thinking quality, cultural awareness; and two key points, learning strategies and affect. According to the new National English Curriculum, English teaching should not only consider what students should learn about English knowledge and skills; what to do in the future by learning English, but also consider through English course, what students can learn about other aspects of knowledge, and form other key skills and essential characters. knowledge: 1. Help students grasp new words and language points.

2. Master the main idea of this passage. ability: 1.Solve questions with reading skills such as skimming and scanning

2.Improve their communication ability and self-learning ability affect: 1.Learn some knowledge of first aid and broaden the students’ mind. 2.Increase the students’ interest in English learning by practicing the communicative and cooperative tasks.

To achieve these teaching aims, I will apply task-based language teaching in this class with multimedia.

Teaching procedures:教学过程

Lead in导入: Show some pictures about cultural relics then task1: brainstorm what they are and what you know about them with their partners. And invite three students to share their opinions.

Then I’ll give a brief explanation of the pictures. task2: skimming: (paragraph 1.)Read quickly to find detailed information about the Amber Room.then fill the form. task3: retelling: (paragraph 2-3)following the important years,retell the procedures of the Amber Room task4: explain important points.

task5:conclusion:Fill in the blanks to conclude the passage Task6:Group work:(role play) 5-8 minutes to make a introduction with 200 words. Act as a guide. Further Thinking:
