Teaching time M9U4 Exploring Plants 40 minutes Analysis of teaching material The topic of this unit is about exploring plants which is not familiar to students. The history of plant exploration and some specific knowledge of biology are discussed in this unit. However, there are a lot of new words in this unit and the reading passages are very long, which poses difficulties for students. Through this lesson, students can learn some new words and gain some basic knowledge about biology. The students are from Class 3, Senior 3. They have strong interest in learning new things. They are eager to speak in class and practise what they have learned. Though they have learned English for over two years, their vocabulary is still limited and they are in need of training of vocabulary learning skills. Moreover, their lack of background knowledge about plant exploration poses difficulty for them to comprehend the reading material in the unit.

Objectives for knowledge After learning the lesson, students are expected to
