一、教学目标

1.Get students to learn about basic knowledge of robots 2. let students read the passage : SATISFACTION

GUARANTEED to develop their reading ability and let students learn different reading skills. 3.Enable students to learn to talk about Robots 4. Enable students to grasp what Tony did to help Claire and how her emotion developed during Tony’s stay at her house. Help students to sum up characteristics of science fiction. 5. Develop students’ sense of cooperative learning.

6. Develop student’s emotion to love our motherland and proud of China’s power.

二、教材分析

In this period, students will be guided to understand to watch some pictures about robots in our life. The reading passage titled SATISFACTION GUARANTEED is about a human-like robots called Tony how to help Claire and how her emotion developed during Tony’s stay at her house. the I will get students to skim for topic sentence of each paragraph

and the general idea of the text, and then scan for further understanding . To consolidate the contents of the reading passage, I will ask students to fill in blanks. 三、

Step I Warming Up Warming up by watching the video about robots can do many things to help human and ask students “Do you know some of the robots you have seen? ”

and ask them “Do you want a robot to be your husband or wife?”Let them discuss and answer the

questions. For example; Do some shopping, Do research, Do the housework, Talk with humans, Play with human, As a policeman or a seller, take care of human, Do rescue work, And so on…then tell students: we are going to learn Unit 2. –Robots, before we start, I’d like you to know the following things: What kind of robot would you like to create? Step II Pre-reading

The pre-reading activity has two functions. Question 1 is a warming up activity to check students’ understanding of robots and meanwhile lead them to the topic of the reading passage —SATISFACTION GUARANTEED

Question 2 gives the students a chance to predict the main idea of the passage and then skim it. Step III Reading 1.Now I’d like you to meet Tony—a robot that looks exactly like a human being. He is a character in the science fiction Satisfaction Guaranteed by Isaac Asimov. Please read the text and find out 4 characters in the passage: 1.Larry Belmont, 2.Claire, 3.Gladys Claffern, 4.Tony and clarify the relationship among them. (Answer: Larry Belmont - employed in a company that makes robots. Claire - Larry’s wife, a housewife
