Unit3 A Taste of English Humor — using language 一、教材内容分析

本课时教学内容是USING LANGUAGE 部分，将说与写作相结合，从听、说、读、写四个方面来学习和巩固所学语言知识，全面体现语言运用能力。前面进行的课文阅读教学、词汇和短语教学是本课时可利用的基础。如何通过话题交流来提高学生的写作能力是本课时的重点。

二、教学目标

By the end of this class, the students will be able to 1.

Talk about some types of English and Chinese humour, and then find their differences. 2.

Can realize that humour is to let people to be optimistic about everything around. 3.

Write funny stories using the target language and according to the writing steps.

三、教学过程

Step 1 Lead-in and free-talk ( 3minutes ) What can we see in the picture? Have a guess what is happening in the picture? Can you make up a funny story according to the picture?

Step 2 Speaking ( 10minutes )

Show students the story related to the picture, asking them to discuss with their partners whether they think the story shown below is funny. Give the reasons. Use these words and expressions below to help you. How wonderful! I’m pleased we both like... I felt happy because... What fun! It surprises me that... I (don’t) laugh at that kind of thing because... It is (not) very amusing/funny that... I (don’t) enjoy this very much because... Cat and Mice猫和老鼠

Mrs Brown went to visit one of her friend and carried a small box with holes punched in the top. “What’s in your box?” asked the friend. “A cat,” answered Mrs Brown. “You see I’ve been dreaming about mice at night and I’m so scared! This cat is to catch them.”

“But the mice are only imaginary.” said the friend. “So is the cat.”whispered Mrs Brown. 【设计说明：本环节以一张有趣的图片为话题，让学生通过看，听，说，讨论的形式，并在教师的引导下运用常用于谈论幽默故事评论语进行交流，品位“英语笑话和幽默”，提高口语水平。】

Step 3 Instructions on writing a funny story ( 4minutes ) A: Give students some instructions on writing a funny story. 1)

Writing down your story in a logical order. 2)

For each of your story try to find the most interesting words you can to describe how you felt or what was happening. 3)

Then write out your story using these interesting words. 4)

Read through your story. 5)

Then show it to your partner. Let him/her suggest some new and exciting words. 6)

Write out the story and put it into a class collection of stories. 【设计说明：本环节先通过让学生了解写有趣故事的写作技巧来引导学生怎样写好有趣故事，提高学生自主学习的能力。】

Step 4 Practice ( 15minutes ) Give students enough time to finish the task and give them enough help in the writing. Tell them to give the outline first, then finish the story. 我是公鸡！

作文：composition

鸡窝：roost

母鸡：hen Today, I’d like to observe how hen lay eggs, and then write a composition in the summer vacation. First, ____________________________________________________ Then, ____________________________________________________ Next, ____________________________________________________ At last, a rooster (公鸡) come out of the roost and said angrily: “__________________”

Step 5 Correction between partners ( 15 minutes ) Ask the students to exchange their composition required by the teacher, correcting the mistakes they found. After that, choose several sample compositions to be shown in the class. Setting other students an example. 【设计说明：本环节先通过让学生观察同桌的作文，互相修改作文中发现的错误，教师的适当指导，再通过学生示范优秀作文，进而从中总结归纳错误的用语，学习周围同学的优秀范文，有利于学生探究学习和自主学习能力的提高，养成较好地英文写作习惯。】

Step 6 Summary ( 2 minutes ) Ask the students to review what we have learned in this lesson, including the useful expressions used in talking about funny stories as well as instructions on writing a funny story. 【设计说明：本环节先通过学生对本堂课知识的回顾及教师的点评，帮助学生整理思路，形成清晰的概念，巩固知识起着画龙点睛的作用。】

Step 7 Homework ( 1 minutes ) Finish Exercise 5 on Page 20 【设计说明：运用与拓展本课所学，让学生在写的练习中进一步巩固所学的写作技巧。】
