Grade 1 students have acquired some basic English knowledge. They are full of enthusiasm. They are generally active .But their attention span is rather short, it is still necessary to use some pictures and games to catch their attention. Students are easily engaged in group work. Teaching objectives: 1. Knowledge aims By the end of this class, Students can master some knowledge about English jokes. 2. Strategic aims The students will be able to make full use of their resources and learn to share with others. 3. Affective aims ①Strengthen students’ cooperative spirit ②cultivate students’ patriotism Teaching key and difficult points: the students can use what they have learned in their daily life. Presentation There are thousands of jokes which use ” play on words”to amuse us. In this step, the teacher show some knowledge about English jokes.

Step 3 Reading Read a story and try to find the answers.

Step 4 Post-reading

Students read the passage in groups and convert the story into a conversation. Ask two groups or more to act it out in front of the class. Then the teacher gives comments on their performance and chooses the best group. Step 5 Homework Choose one topic and do your writing.
