Teaching aims: 1. Knowledge aims: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to —

a. consolidate the words, the phrases and the sentences about the places and the positions. b. grasp the pronunciation rules of the letters ‘ir’ and ‘ur’. 2. Skills aims: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to

a. talk about the positions of the places. b. read the words with the letters ‘ir’ and ‘ur’. c. read the story with the pronunciation rules. 3. Affective aims: By the end of this lesson, students can be interested in reading English stories with the pronunciation rules.

Teaching focus:

To talk about the positions of the places. The pronunciation rules of the letters ‘ir’ and ‘ur’.

Read the story by themselves with the pronunciation rules.

Teaching Procedures:

Warming up 1. Engjoy a video: Students watch the video Alphablocks – Birthday Girl

2. Greetings: Teacher says hello to the students. 【设计意图】故事激趣,引入语音:激发学生兴趣,引入本节课的语音主题,让学生初步感知字母组合‘ir’的发音。

Step 1: Teacher’s Birthday (the sound of ‘ir’ and ‘ur’ and the revision of Unit5)

1. Make a cake: Teacher makes a cake and decorate it with the students.

a. stir: Teacher puts flour, milk, creme, eggs, sugar and some water into a bowl and then stir. Students stir for the teacher, and guess the meaning of ‘stir’.

b. squirt: Teacher decorate the cake with pastry bags. Students do the action of squeezing the pastry bags and the creme squirt. Ss guess the meaning of ‘squirt’.

2. Make a wish: Students sing a song for the teacher and the teacher makes a wish. [Song] Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday, girl.

You can wish for anything in the world. 3. Presents Time: Teacher opens the box and get the presents, a skirt and a purse.

4. Game time: Students find the pronunciation rules of the letters ‘ir’ and ‘ur’. Review the Unit

a. Magic eyes: Ss find the the pronunciation rules of the letters ‘ir’ and ‘ur’.

T: Can you finds the rules of the words about my birthday with your magic eyes? b. Phonics puzzle Students read the words with the letters ‘ur’ and finish the puzzle with their pads.

T: We finish the puzzle! Actually it is a map!

【设计意图】情景引入,感悟语音:创设老师生日这一情景,设置一起做蛋糕、装饰蛋糕、许愿、拆礼物等多个环节,呈现一系列含有字母组合‘ir’和‘ur’的单词,让学生感知字母组合‘ir’和‘ur’的发音,设置游戏Magic eyes游戏让学生寻找字母组合‘ir’和‘ur’的发音规律,并通过Phonics puzzle游戏让学生操练字母‘ur’的发音,训练学生见词能读的能力。同时,通过拼图到地图的过渡,引入Step2,Unit5的复习环节。

Step2 A map of a town 1. Listen and find:Students listen to the audio and finish the map on their pads. [Audio] It’s the map of my town. The park and the zoo are next to the lake. The train station is next to the park. Where’s the post office? It’s between the train station and the bus stop. In front of the post office is the supermarket. Go down the street between the post office and the cinema. That’s the hospital! That’s my work place. 2. Check the maps

3. Ask and answer: Teacher asks the question about the positions of the places. T: Where’s the park/post office/.../hospital?

【设计意图】听力引领,复习巩固:围绕本单元话题place自编听力材料,通过让学生在平板上完成地图的任务,复习巩固本单元的相关句型。并且在核对答案时,通过问答句让学生进一步运用本单元的句型。最后聚焦hospital,引入语音绘本故事。

Step3 Pre-reading 1. Picture reading:Students look at the picture of page1 to page3 with the teacher. a. T: The hospital is the girl’s work place. Can you guess what is the girl?

Ss: She’s a nurse. [Chant]

‘ur’, urse, ‘ur’, urse, nurse, nurse, nurse. I am a nurse. b. T: What can the nurse see?

Ss: A purse. [Chant]

‘ur’, urse, ‘ur’, urse, purse, purse, purse. I find a nurse. c. Ss contrast the different expressions of the nurse between the two pictures.

T: The nurse wants to open the nurse. She is happy. But now, how is she?

Ss: She is scared/ shocked/ ...

T: What happened?

Step4 While-reading

1.

Watch and answer: Students watch the video of the picture book from page4 to page6.

Q1: What happend? Ss: The nurse sees a turtle. [Song] The nurse finds a purple purse.

A purple purse. A purple purse.

A turtle in the purse. 4

Q2: What will the nurse do?

Ss: Throw the purse. T: The turtle falls to the ground.

Read and find: Students read the story from page6 to page14 on their pads. Q: What happened next? a.

Little writer: Students write the story according to the pictures. a.

Mini act: Students act the following story out.

[Lines] Narrator: The bird finds a purple purse. Bird: What’s in the purple purse? Bird: A girl! Narrator: The girl finds a purple purse.

Brainstorm: Students guess what is in the purple purse at last.

Ss finish the chant by themselves. [Chant] ____, ____, what do you see? I see ____ looking at me. ____, ____, what do you see? I see ____ looking at me. ____, ____, what do you see? I see ____ looking at me. b.

Students sing the chant with the music ‘ Twinkle twinkle little star’.

【设计意图】任务引领,分步阅读:从观看视频、自读、预测、自己编写、演绎等多个角度,设置阅读任务,围绕故事的发展进行阅读。每一个环节都以chant或者song的形式巩固字母组合

‘ur’和

‘ir’的发音。同时,让学生通过演一演在故事中感知故事的趣味和语音的韵味。

Step5 After-reading

1. Story reading: Students read the story using their own way. 2. Story singing: Students sing the story with the music ‘Mary has a little lamb’. 3. Name the story: Students give the story a name.

【设计意图】朗读吟唱,语音产出。通过之前语音的铺垫和故事的分步阅读,让学生自己用自己的方式朗读课文。并通过唱歌的形式把故事内容唱出来,进一步感受语音的韵律和巩固语音的运用。

Step6 Homework 1. Try to act the whole story out by groups.

2. Try to adapt the story using the words with the same sound.

【设计意图】表演总结,实践作业。让学生通过整个故事的演绎进一步感知故事的趣味性和语言的语音规律。同时,可以根据自己所学知识,自己总结,寻找其他相同发音字母组合,进行故事的改变或者续编。
