Unit 4 Then and now Part B Let’s learn教案

Teaching aims: 1. Knowledge aims: Make the students learn some new words and phrases: go cycling, ice-skate, play badminton. 2. Ability aims: Improve students’ speaking ability by reading and joining activities. 3. Emotional aims: Educate students to train extensive hobbies and do more exercise. Difficult points: To understand the spelling and pronunciation of new words. Key points: To master the new words, phrases and sentences. Teaching methods: Task-based Approach, TPR and Situational Approach. Learning methods:

Group work and independent learning.

Teaching procedures: Step 1 Warming up (5 minutes)

To make students be interested in class, first is a simple greeting. Second is playing a bomb game.

Step 2 Leading in (3 minutes)

At the beginning, to motivate students’ curiosity, I’ll show some pictures about vehicles and let students guess what they are.

Step 3 Presentation (15 minutes)

Using the old phrase, ride a bike to present new phrase, go cycling. To make students understand the meaning well, I’ll draw a match picture. To review present tense, past tense and negative form of a verb, I’ll show pictures to lead a modal verb can. Then show some pictures about sports to lead new words, badminton and ice-skate. Next using seasons pictures to make students understand the usage of before.

Step 4 Practice (10 minutes)

Listen match and say. There are 3 tasks. Task 1 Delete the words you didn’t hear. Task 2 Match the right picture with person. Task 3 Let students choose a sentence to speak.

Step 5 Consolidation (10 minutes)

To train the usage of before and now, I’ll divide students into 8 groups and let them make up new sentences like “Before I couldn’t…….Now I can…” Then let them show their sentences in the front of class. The whole class will give big hands to the best group.

Step 6 Homework (2 minutes)

Let students copy new sentences that they have made up in class.
