Teaching design:

This class is designed to aim to help students get more basic knowledge of grammer , the –ing form as the subject and object . The emphasis of this period is merely placed on the understanding and usage of the –ing form and knowing some basic sentence of the –ing form as the subject and object . In the meantime , the students will be offered more opportunities to find the usage in the reading passage and summarize the basic sentences that they have learned . Exercises are designed to be simple and easy to operate , which is of great help to students’ understanding . Teaching keys :

1.

Students will understand the sentences in the reading passage containing the –ing form as the subject and object. 2.

Students will remember the basic sentence patterns which contain the –ing form as the subject and object , making them understand some complex sentences. Teaching difficulities: 1.

Students will understand the sentences in the reading passage containing the –ing form as the subject and object and be able to distinguish sentence elements that the –ing form does.

2.

They will be able to distinguish the differences between –ing form and to do form. Teaching procedures: Step 1. Free talk with students by using –ing form and writing the sentences on the blackboard. And then giving them chance to find the usage of –ing form. Step 2.

Given the chance to find sentences in the reading passage and analyze the elements in the sentences. Step 3.

Presentation of some common –ing form patterns as subject. “it +be +n+doing /there be + n. + doing “

Presentation of the function of –ing form as object and practicing translating sentences while learning . D.

Presentation of some common words followed only by –ing form, such as avoid，consider，enjoy，keep，finish，suggest，dislike，risk, delay，escape，cannot help，imagine，mind，miss，practice，cannot stand, put off, give up.At the same time, practicing translating sentences while learning . E.

Presentation of some common words followed by both–ing

form and to do, such as

begin，start，continue，like，love，prefer，try，mean，forget，remember，hate . 1)

go on doing , go on to do F.

Presentation of the usage of –ing form following preposition forming a phrase .

Step 5 . Practicing to consolidate the usage of –ing form .

Step 6. Activity in groups to talk about “My good friend by using –ing form “ and then presenting it in class . Step 7. Assignment : writing about my good friend by using –ing form as subject and object.
