I. Learning aims 1. To master the words and expressions in the reading passage: struggle, be satisfied with, would rather, thanks to, rid…of ..., would rather, equip 2. To use the target language correctly and fluently 3. To encourage students to respect their teachers, express gratitude to their teachers and be proud of their teachers. II.Analysis of the context and the students This lesson is based on the introduction of a teacher called Zhang Xianyin. It includes Mr zhang’s struggle in teaching，his family, his hobbies, his belief and his students, where students will learn the target language naturally. Mr zhang should be known by most of the students and they should have certain knowledge about him, but may not be very familiar with him.

Teaching procedure Step 1. homework check 1.Ask students to look at some mistakes they made in their homework (showed on the screen) , understand the usage of some words and correct their mistakes. 2. Ask students to check the rest answers to the exercise (a summary of the reading text A pioneer for all people) [Purpose]: to know the students' mastery of the target language and get students to pay more attention to the spelling of thanks to and the –ing form of rid.

Step 2. Guessing Guess who the person is (show several sentences describing Mr zhang) He is a teacher in our school. He’s not very tall.
