Unit 3 Computers -- Using Language Teaching Aims: 1. Learn a reading passage to learn about a football android called Andy. 2. Improve students’ listening skill. 3. Design an android and write a short introduction. Teaching Procedures: Step I: Lead-in Let students watch some pictures about smart phones. Introduce the meaning of the word “Android”. Let students know besides mobile phones, android also refers to the robot. Step II: Reading Let the students read the passage and fill in the fill for Andy. Name:

Step III: Listening Before listening, show students some pictures about the robots in our daily life. And then show students some pictures about the robots in the textbook. Ask students to guess what kind of things these robots can do. Let students listen to the tape for the first time and try to number the robots. Let students listen to the tape once again and after listening try to fill in the chart. After listening, tell students that they are thinking of buying a robot. Discuss which one of the three robots is the best for them and give reasons. Step IV: Writing Let students design their own android and write a short passage to introduce it to others.

Step V: Homework Ask students to think about the two questions. Should we rely too much on the robots? What attitude should we have towards robots? And try to write a passage about these.
