Teaching aim:

Students should be able to explain some new words in English and use them in a set situation. Students should be able to sum up a person’s personality by analyze the text. Students should be able to talk about a friend with –ing form patterns. Students should be able to take part in a group dissuasion and contribute ideas to solve the hunger problem. Step 1 Warming up

Listen to a song related the countryside and lead in the topic.

Step 2 Revision What do you think of Yuan Longping? Why?

Present some sentences in the text and ask students to talk about Dr Yuan’s personality.

Step 3 Discovering useful words and expressions

1 Ex. 1 Find the word or phrase from the text for each of these meanings. Then check the answers with the class. 2 Practice: students do Ex 2 individually first, then check in a group and the class. 3 Complete the passage with the words below in their proper forms.

Get students to talk about friends!

They are asked to use Verb-ing as much as possible and focus on his/her personality by the sample

Step 5 Discussion-- How to solve hunger? Students discuss how to solve the hunger problem in a group. Then ask some to report their conclusion the class. Homework : Write a letter to Tom, introduce your idol ---Dr Yuan Longping.
