设计思想：

《英语新课程标准》语言技能目标(八级) 对英语基本技能要求1．听：能听懂委婉的建议和劝告。说听、能听懂有关话题的讨论和谈话并记住要点；2、说：能在日常人际交往中有效地使用语言进行表达。3、读：能识别不同文体的特征；能通过分析句子结构理解长难句态度。

本节课将通过Skim, Scan, Summarize等阅读策略来训练学生从文本中、获取信息、分析信息、总结大意的能力，帮助和指导学生通过分析文中的难句长句，了解句子的结构，以达到理解句子的目的。在语言输出阶段，通过合作学习和探究的形式，让学生能够了解一些初步的英语方言的形成，在他们今后的英语学习中或者在真是的语境中遇见了这样的情况能够明白，可以减轻看不明白，听不懂的情况，减少学习英语的恐惧感。

教情分析:

本课时选自人教版高一英语上册第二单元Using Language部分，本单元的using language 是以standard English and dialects 为话题，通过这篇文章以及有关对话的学习，让学生理解英语和汉语一样，不同地区，都有不同的方言。英语也形成了许多方言: 美国英语、英国英语、加拿大英语、印度英语和澳大利亚英语,就是众多的方言中的几种。

学情分析:高一新生在初中学了三年的英语有一定的英语基础，具有初步的英语听说读写能力。他们新到高中，学习积极性比较高，学习兴趣较浓厚，他们求知欲和自觉性较高。抱有较大的学习热情。因此，教师要抓住时机，课堂上充分调动学生的学习积极性，培养他们的听说读写能力。
