教师利用课件呈现一些新旧事物的图片，让学生判断哪些是当代的事物，哪些是过去的事物，用now和then来归类，揭示课题，并理解课题。

教师向学生展示两张自己的照片，一张儿时的，一张现在的，并与学生进行简单的问答。

呈现旧式手机介绍

呈现新式智能手机介绍，操练一般现在时和一般过去时。

询问学生现在和过去会做些什么，操练can 和could。

师生玩“辨真假”游戏，教师或学生用could秒时自己过去的情况，其他学生来辨别真假。如：T: Ten years ago,I could cook. Ss: Yes! Yes! Yes! T: Ten years ago,I could drive. Ss: No! No! No! …

T: What could you do five years ago? What could n’t you do five years ago? S1:…

看图，预测课文内容。

教师呈现课文的四组图片，要求学生观察每组图片两幅图片的不同之处，并思考如下问题：

What could he/she do then ? What can he/she do now ? What did he/she do then? What do they do now?

安排学生自读课文，充分理解课文内容，两人一组，用完整的句子介绍四个人物过去和现在的不同之处。
