Ask some Ss to look at the pictures and complete the sentences.. Step 2. Grammar Purpose: To let Ss know the usage of Subject-Verb Agreement and use it freely.

1. Explain the usage of Subject-Verb Agreement by giving examples.

主谓一致的特殊用法归纳如下：

1.语法一致

主语为单数形式，谓语动词也用单数形式；主语为复数形式，谓语动词也用复数形式。

例如：

I often help him and he often helps me.我经常帮助他，他也经常帮助我。

We often help each other.我们经常互相帮助。

*不可数名词作主语，谓语动词用单数；

and连接两个或两个以上单数名词或者代词作主语的时候,谓语动词有以下两种情况：

(1)

如果指两个或两个以上不同的人或事物的时候,谓语动词用复数。

(2)

但如果连接两个以上的名词指的是同一个人或物, 或者指同一概念的时候, 谓语要用单数。

Both bread and butter are on sale here.这里出售面包和黄油

Bread and butter is my favourite food .奶油面包是我的最爱。

no...and no...等结构后的名词必须用单数，虽然整个主语有复数意义但习惯上谓语动词用单数。

意义一致

即谓语动词的选用取决于主语表达的内容在含义上是单数意义还是复数意义。

1.all,none,some,any等不定代词作主语时，谓语动词要根据其指代内容而定。(注：none作主语，指人或可数的物，表示数目，谓语形式单复数都可以；如果指不可数名词，谓语形式用单数。) 2.集合名词作主语, 动词可用单数, 也可以用复数。主要由句子的意思决定。强调整体谓语动词用单数；指全体人员时, 动词则用复数。这一类常见的集合名词有public, family, class, crowd, population, team, group。

就近原则

即谓语动词的单复数形式取决于最靠近它的主语。

1.用连词or, either…or, neither…nor, not only…but also等连接并列主语时，谓语动词应与最近的主语保持一致。

在表示存在的there be 句式中，主语是两个或多个并列名词（短语），be的形式与最近的一个名词（短语）保持一致
