Unit 2 Working the land ---- Learning about Language

1.教材分析（analysis of teaching material）

The emphasis of this period will be placed on the practise of new words, expressions and sentence patterns, especially the usage of V-ing form.

2.学情分析（analysis of the students）

Students of high school in Grade one are in a forming stage of English learning and learning habit. They hope to enjoy themselves but not learn by teacher’s dull explanation of words and grammar. What they want the teacher to show on the class is something that can inspire their curiosity and creativity as well as the context related with their daily lives.

3.教学目标(Teaching aims) 1.知识目标(Knowledge aims)

a. 词汇和短语

Sunburnt, struggle, decade, super, output, crop, hunger, disturbing, expand, Vietman, circulate, satisfied, freedom b. 重点知识点

The usage of V-ing form

Get Ss to use some useful new words and expressions correctly. Master the usage of the -ing form as the subject and object

Help to inspire Ss’ enthusiasm about words and expressions learning

#Teaching important points: 1. Learn to use the important words and expressions in the reading passage 2. Learn to describe different situations in –ing form. #Teaching difficult points: 1. Encourage Ss to describe themselves and their relatives in the –ing form. 2. Combine the –ing form with the concrete teaching environment.

5.教学过程(Teaching procedures) Step 1 Practice for useful words and expressions and check the answer. Turn to Page 12. Go through the exercises in Discovering useful words and expressions with Ss and make sure they know what to do. And check the answer.

Step 2 Study some sentence then lead to V-ing form as the subject.

1. V-ing 作主语，表经常性、习惯性的动作

Seeing is believing.

Studying hard is our duty.

V-ing 作主语，谓语动词用单数。

2. it 作形式主语，

v-ing 后置。

Eg. It is no use making an excuse for this.

3. 在There be 结构中作主语。

There is no pleasure playing basketball.

Step 3 V-ing form as the object.

1. 作动词或动词短语的宾语。

动词-ing短语作动词的宾语，常见的词和词组有：

avoid, miss, put off, suggest/advise/recommend, finish, practise，enjoy, imagine, can’t help, admit, deny, envy, escape, risk, excuse, bear, keep, mind等。

记忆诀窍：记忆歌谣：

避免错过少延期，建议完成多练习；

Avoid, miss, pu off; suggest/advise/recommend, finish, practise

喜欢想象禁不住，承认否定与妒忌；

Enjoy, imagine, can’t help, admit, deny, envy;

逃避冒险莫原谅，忍受保持不介意

Escape, risk, excuse; bear, keep, mind

2. 作动介词短语的宾语。

动词-ing短语作介词的语，常见的短语有devote…to, get down to, object to, pay attention to, succeed in, stick to, set about, think about/of, lead to等。
