IV. Teaching Procedures Step I: Lead-in By guessing what it is inside the box, the students’ curiosity about the new grammar item is aroused. (点出本课内容：Modal Verbs)

T: If you are not sure, you can use the sentence “It might be _________. It may be ___________.

If you are sure, you can use the sentence “It should be ____________. It must be ____________.”

Step II: Discovering useful structures. Read the sentences from our text, and explain the meanings of the modal verbs. a.

Talk about the function of Modal verbs in Unit1 and unit 2. (3rd-4th slides) b.

By reading the sentences, focus on grammar --- the function of modal verbs. (5th-6th slides) Step III: Presentation and practice a.

T: Look at the slides (7th-14th), choose or fill in the blanks with the proper modal verbs.
