课程名称：Festivals around the world----reading

内容来源：高中英语人教版Unit1 Module 3 设计思路：

本节课主要是通过让学生们学习中外节日和庆祝方式来加深对中外文化相似点和不同点的理解，从而扩展文化背景，增加异国文化知识。

教材分析：

本课来源于新课标高中英语选修3第二单元的阅读课，是一篇介绍中外节日的文章。文章对中西节日的介绍让学生们深刻理解节日的起源，加深对文化的认同感。

教学目标：

知识目标：

1. To learn new words and phrases 2.To use these words to express their ideas about the festivals in the class. 3.To understand of the passage and get familiar with the similarities and differences of different festivals. 技能目标：

Students can use the reading strategies such as skimming, scanning, careful reading and summarizing to get the main idea of the passage. 情感目标：

Through experiencing different cultures, students are expected to get familiar with those cultures and be proud of them.

教学重难点：The focus of the passage is to get the main idea and detailed information from the passage. The difficult point of the passage is to get students to talk about the festivals and celebrations and use reading strategies.

教学过程

Step1: Brainstorming I will ask them what kind of festival they celebrat. Then, I will show some Chinese and western festivals to get students to know different festivals and their customs. Purpose: I will know how much they know about the festivals and whether they can express the festivals in English smoothly. Then, I will tell them more background knowledge to increase their interests in festivals.

Step2: Skiming I will ask students to summarize the main idea of the passage through the first, last paragrah and key words and so on

Purpose: to teach them the way to summarize the main idea of a passage. Step3: Detailed reading Para1: find the origins of ancient festivals and modern festivals Para2: What kind of things should be done to celebrate the Obon Festival? Para3: Why do we hold festivals to honour people? Para4: What makes autumn festivals happy events?

Pare5: What do people usually do at spring festivals? Para6: Why do we need festivals? Step4: True of false question. The ancient people needn’t worry about their food.

F People celebrate Halloween with a different purpose from the past.

T Gandhi was a great leader who Indian people honour a lot.

T China and Japan share the same custom of celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival. T Easter just celebrates the rebirth of Jesus.

F Purpose: to grasp the detailed information of the passage. Step4: Group discussion. Q: What do most festivals have in common? Purpose:to make students realize that festivals exist everywhere and many festivals celebrate similar ideas and important events.It is important for students to develop a sense of cross-cultural understanding. Step5: Homework. Write a short pasage about the Spring Festival. Purpose:to make students know how to express our cultures in English. 教学小结
