Content Theme/topic: Students’ activity, the Camping Festival Background: Students have joined in the the Camping Festival and enjoyed a lot. 2.

Discourse and language The sentences are all designed by teacher Wu, using the v-ing as adverbial. 1.

Language ability Students know how to transform the adverbial clause to v-ing used as adverbial. 2.

Cognitive/ thinking ability Students get to think how to express their daily life with v-ing used as adverbial. 3.

Learning ability Students know how to use English to convey their feelings and emotions. 1.

Content (interested, motivation) Students are interested in Camping Festival and their motivation is high. 2.

Language (input and output) Combining with the photos taken during the Camping Festival, Students are arisen the wonderful memory there. However, our students are not that good at English and most of them do not have the strong foundation of English Grammar, so it is still difficult for them to learn it. Step 1 ( 3 minutes) Activity Introduce the teaching objectives and begin to show some photos of students during the Camping Festival. 【purpose/justification】 Students are clear what they are going to learn in this lesson. Seeing these photos, students are arisen the wonderful memories during the Camping Festival.

Step 2 ( 12 minutes) Activity Teacher presents some photos together with the sentence using v-ing as adverbial. 【purpose/justification】 Students know how to express those activities and their feelings using v-ing as adverbial. Activity Students classify the sentences into six groups: 让步状语、条件状语、原因状语、时间状语、伴随状语、结果状语

【purpose/justification】 Students know the different functions of v-ing used as adverbial. Activity Students work in groups and work out the different tasks. 【purpose/justification】 Students have the chances to practise and thus they learn how to use the v-ing used as adverbial more correctly.
