Teaching design
Teaching aim: 1. At the end of the class, all the students can say the phrases very well through the pre-class studying and in-class practicing. 2. At the end of the class, most of the students can know the changes of the verbs when the subject is the 3rd person single through the practice in class massively. 3. At the end of the class, all the students know that they should obey the school and class rules and enjoy the school and class life well.
Students situation:The students can grasp some verb phrases of Lesson 13 including their pronunciations and meanings through the pre-class homework and they can have a good practice through discussing and communicating in their group. Important points: 1. Some phrases: come to school early, listen carefully, talk actively, make noise, a list of, hand in, on time, be late for. 2. The application of the 3rd person single verbs. Difficult points: 1. The practice of the 3rd person single verbs, the special changes such as, watch-watches, go-goes. 2. The application of “be doing” structure.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1: warming up
See a video about the “traffic rules” and ask the students “What
should you do through seeing the video?” leading to the topic of the unit “We should obey the rules.”
Step 2: Presentation
1.At school, we should obey the school rules. The students will show their pre-class homework in groups about some phrases of the passage about the school rules. And the other students can ask some questions.
2.Gao Wei is also a good boy at school. Because he knows the school rules very well. And then the teacher show four pictures one by one, leading to the four sentences: He comes to school early. He listens carefully. He talks actively. He never makes noise in class. The students will practice in group. At the same time, the teacher will ask the students “ Do you come to school early/listen carefully/ talk actively/ make noise in class?”in order that the students can distinguish the difference between the 1st person subject and 3rd person subject.
3.Introduce that Gao Wei is a group leader. Let ss listen to the tape and answer the question: What is his group doing? Leading to “His group is making a list of class rules.” At the same time, the students can make some other sentences using “be doing”. The students read Gao Wei’s class rules
together.
4.Retell the passage according to the hints on the blackboard. The group will discuss and one student in a group will come to the front to present.
Step 3: Practice
Make the class rules in groups and then present in class. Moral education: We should obey the school and class rules. We can enjoy our school and class life.
