Class time available: 40 minutes Analysis of the teaching materials: The topic of this Unit is “working the land”. The text mainly deals with a vivid description of Yuan Longping’s general introduction, biography, personalities and dreams. which call on the students to learn from Dr Yuan to pay attention to the interests of people and cares little about fame and money. Analysis of the students: The students have prior knowledge about science. When it comes to the topic of working the land. it is far from the students especially for the urban ones. Although it is a heated subject. The literary style is an introduction article, which is attractive. The students have mastered some of the key reading techniques, such as, how to get the main idea and how to find the main aspects to support the main idea. However, their vocabularies are limited which will restricts their understanding of the article. Teaching objectives: 1.
