2018-2019学年度下学期高一质量检测试题

A. http://www.onestopenglish.com

B. http://www.humorlinks.com/ C. http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/audiointerviews/

D. http://www.bbc.co.uk./music.listen 23. Which of the following might be the best title of the passage? A. Web’s Radio: New Access to Information

B. Guide to Suitable Websites C. How to Surf the Internet Wisely D. Recommendation of Online English Magazines & Videos

B It’s 5:00 in the morning when the alarm rings in my ears. I get out of bed and walk blindly through the dark into the bathroom. I turn on the light and put on my glasses. The house is still as I walk downstairs while my husband and three kids sleep peacefully. Usually I go for a long run, but today I choose my favorite exercise DVD Insanity(癫痫). Sweat pours down my face and into my eyes. My heart races as I force my body to finish each movement. As I am near the end of the exercise, I feel extremely tired, but a smile is on my face. It’s not a smile because the DVD is over, but a smile of success from pushing my body to its extreme limit.

Some people enjoy shopping, smoking, food, work, or even chocolate. But I need exercise to get through each day. Some shake heads when they see me run through the town. Others get hurt when I refuse to try just one bite of their grandmother’s chocolate cake. They raise their eyebrows, surprised by my “no thank you,”

or by my choice to have a salad. Over the years, I have learned it’s okay to just say “no.” I shouldn’t feel sorry for refusing food that I don’t want to eat.

So what drives me to get out of bed at 5:00 a.m.? What gives me the reason to just say no to ice cream? Commitment. A commitment to change my life with a way that reduces daily worry, increases self -confidence and energy, extends life and above all improves my body shape. This is the point where a smile appears on my face as I look at myself in the mirror or try on my favorite pair of jeans that now fit just right. It’s through commitment and sweat that I can make a difference within myself inside and out. 24. Why is there a smile on the author’s face in the morning?

A. Because she sees her family sleeping peacefully. B. Because she enjoys the interesting DVD. C. Because she feels a sense of achievement. D. Because she finishes her favorite exercise. 25. Which of the following is true according to Paragraph 2? 第二部分

C I’d like to share a story of mine with you all. When I was going home to India last year, I called up my mother to ask if she wanted anything from China.

When India had not opened up its markets to the world, I carried suitcase loads of dark glasses and jeans. Thankfully, we can get all these anywhere in India now.

Still, her answer surprised me: “Green tea.”

As long as I can remember she didn’t even drink Indian tea.

I dutifully bought a big packet of Longjing and headed home to hear the story. My mother and her brother, both regular newspaper readers, believed that Chinese green tea was the wonder drug for all illnesses.

At the turn of the century, China was not really familiar to the average Indian. It was a strange country.

How things change! And how soon!

Now every town of any size seems to have a “China Market”. And everyone is talking about China.

The government of India has planned to send a team to China to see how things are done. A minister once said that India must open the doors for more foreign investment(投资)and such a step would “work wonders as it did for China”.

But it’s a two-way street. I just heard about a thousand Shenzhen office workers who have gone to India to train in software. Meanwhile, all the IT majors are setting up a strong presence in China. No wonder that trade , which was only in the millions just ten years ago, is expected to hit about US$15 billion for last year and US$20 billion by 2008, a goal set by both governments.

No wonder, my colleague wrote some weeks ago about this being the Sino-Indian(中印)century as the two countries started on January 1 the Sino-Indian Friendship Year.

But what is still a wonder to me is my mother drinking Chinese tea. 28. Why did the mother ask for Chinese green tea? A. She believed it had a curing effect. B. She was fond of Chinese products. C. She was tired of Indian tea D. She had a son working in China. 29. What do we know about the Indian IT industry? A. It will move its head office to Shenzhen. B. It is seeking further development in China. C. It has attracted an investment of US$15 billion. D. It caught up with the US IT industry in2008. 30. What does the author mean by “it’s a two-way street’ in Paragraph 10?

A. China and India have different traffic rules. B. Tea trade works wonders in both India and China. C. Chinese products are popular in both China and India. D. The exchanges between India and China benefit both. 31. In the text the author expresses _____. A. his surprise at China’s recent development

B. his concern for his mother’s health

C. his wonder at the growth of India’s IT industry

D. his support for drinking Chinese green tea

The benefits of keeping a journal

If you want to grow, one important thing you should do is keeping a joumal. It may seem simple, but it can make a big difference in your life. I have been keeping journals for years. Writing all the lessons I learn and all the ideas I get has become a habit for me. (36)

Here are some benefits you will get by keeping a journal. ♦ It prevents you from losing an idea. Have you ever gotten an idea only to lose it later because you didn’t write it down?

(37)

But then I developed the habit of writing down every idea that came into my mind as soon as possible. If I'm away from my computer, I usually write it down on a piece of paper that I bring wherever I go. I will then transfer the idea to the journal in my computer. ♦

It helps you review all the lessons you’ve learned. By reviewing your journal, you can quickly see the lessons you’ve learned and the ideas you’ve gotten. (38)

You can use the ideas to propel (驱使)yourself forward. ♦ (39)

After keeping a journal for years, you can look back at it and see how far you’ve gone. Things that were big problems in the past might seem small today. The raw ideas you had in the past might have been realized today. ♦ It helps you expand your ideas. When you try to come up with a sentence to express an idea, you are thinking actively about it.

(40)

In the end, you will expand your ideas. A. It trains you to express your thoughts. B. I often experienced that myself. C. It allows you to see your progress over time. D. And to be honest, I can’t imagine what my life would be like without it.

E. Then you can do whatever necessary to avoid repeating the same mistakes. F. Just use whatever tool you feel comfortable with. G. Thinking actively helps you connect your idea to another idea. 第三部分
