Enable the Ss to find common points between a foreign language and thier mother language by learning some proverbs connected with health.

To let them know the relationship between good diet and health. 2.

Help the Ss to form a good living habit. II ·Teaching important points: Help the Ss to master words and expressions about health and practice speaking ability. ·Teaching difficult points: Students’ ability of doing a survey or making a conversation III Teaching methods:

Task-based method; Discussion; Cooperative learning.

A computer and a projector. V Teaching Procedures:

Step 1: Lead-in Ask someone to perform the action of several sport events and let others guess the name of each sport event.

Question: Why do people usually do exercise? Step2: Individual task Give the Ss several sentences with vocabulary in Activity 1. Let the get the meaning of each word by understanding the sentence. Step 3: Pair work Ask the Ss to do a survey with their partners and take some notes about the information of their health. (Ss should answer questions completely, not “Yes, I do”.) Step 4: Group work- Discussion Activity 1:

Q: What should/ shouldn’t we do to keep healthy? Summarize their answers, and then show some pictures about healthy diet. Activity 2：

·Lead the Ss to make a role-play conversation by using words and expressions they learned in the last parts. ·The conversation will help them master some expressions on giving advice. Step 5: Knowledge extension Let the Ss to match English proverbs with Chinese meanings so that they can find common points between foreign language and their mother

language to develop interests of learning English. Homework:

1. Remember words in Activity 1. 2. Find out more Chinese proverbs connected with health and try to translate them into English. 3. Preview the text on page 2&3.
