T：What is it? Ss: Christmas. T: Good. Can you think of some words related to Christmas? Ss: Christmas tree; Christmas presents; …. (The teacher will show students some pictures to help them. The pictures can also arouse their interest. ) T: As well all know, nowadays Christmas is also celebrated in China, right? Ss: Yes. T : Now let’s see how people celebrate Christmas. ( Show the students some pictures on the screen and ask the students to describe what they are doing using present continuous tense and the teacher gives students an example of using present progressive passive voice, so students will

Step Ⅲ Summarizing &Explanation T Now please look at these sentences and tell me what they have in common. (The teacher presents these sentences together.) Ss: (进行时的被动语态)

T；Now，we have known the structure of the present progressive passive voice. Do you know why and when we need use this voice? Now, let’s see some sentences. (Help students analyze the sentences and summarize the function of the present progressive passive voice. Give the students more examples and explain the rules of using the present progressive passive voice. ) StepⅣ. Practice and Evaluation Give students four tasks which have varying levels of difficulty so that more students can take part. Task one : Ask students to describe what is happening in the picture using the present progressive passive voice.(Give them six pictures which they are very familiar with. It can arouse the students’

interest. Encourage students to express themselves and tell them not to be afraid of making mistakes. Give them feedback on

time. ) Task two : Ask students to do some selected exercises to see if they have master the grammar. Task three: Give students some verbs that they have learned and ask them to pick out the words which can be used in passive voice and make up sentences using the present progressive passive voice.

(After they have a discussion, invite students to display their sentences.) Task four: (It is an open topic.) Group work—

Brainstorming. (Create a context .)Suppose you are a reporter who is sent to Wen chuan to report people’s life there. Now, please describe what you see to your classmates? (What has been done and what is being done？) Give the students several minutes to have a discussion and the present their results. (After the students express their ideas, the teacher will give them some information to help them. ) While the students are discussing, the teacher should circulate around the class and give any help that is necessary with the vocabulary and expressions the students need. The teacher can also listen for their interesting opinions and encourage them to share their ideas with the whole class after the discussion. StepⅤ
