The -ing forms as the subject and the object

一、学生分析：

班级的学生来自于不同的中学，他们的初中英语基础参差不齐，语法知识掌握不牢，经过高一将近一学年的学习，学生能够明白什么词性的词能做主语、宾语、谓语、定语、状语或补语等，对句子成分的分析有一定的基础，本堂课重点指导学生掌握动词ing形式作主语和宾语的语法知识。

二、教材分析：

本单元的中心话题是“农业”，从著名的杂交水稻专家袁隆平的贡献，化学对土地耕种的影响和开展有机生态耕种等方面内容展开，在文章中多处出现以动词ing

形式作主语和宾语的句子，这是本单元重点学习的语法知识，教材在Learning about language中的Discovering useful structures环节中设计了多种练习，让学生从以动词ing

形式作主语和宾语的感性认识开始，然后引导学生总结本语法结构的特点和用法，再通过练习进行巩固。

三、教学目的: 1. To train the students’ abilities of speaking, writing, and analyzing. 2. Enable Ss to learn about the -ing form as the subject & the object. 3. Enable Ss to use the target language properly. 四、教学重点和难点：

Students can understand and use -ing form as the subject & the object properly. 五、教学过程: Step 1 Lead-in 1.Now let’s enjoy a song.

2.Ask the question: What common do the words on the lines have?(They are all verbs ending with -ing.) 3.The -ing form like a noun that can play different functions in a sentence, in this class we are going to learn the -ing forms as the subject and the object in a sentence. 设计意图：让学生欣赏歌曲并展示歌词，学生边欣赏歌曲边观察划横线歌词的特点，教师通过问问题，轻松、自然地导入本堂课的课题教学。

Step 2 Learn the -ing form as the subject 1.Finish the sentence according to the picture, and judge what component the -ing form is in the sentence .

2.Find the real subject for each sentence. 3.Make a conclusion about the -ing form as the subject.

According to the above exercises, we know we should use the -ing form as the

subject in the following situations.

●The -ing form lies before the predicate verb in a sentence.

●In the sentence patterns:

It be +adj. (worth, useless... )+doing sth. It be no +n. (pleasure, use, good...)+doing sth. 4.Practice: Rewrite the following sentences using the -ing form as the subject.

设计意图：通过看图完成句子和根据句子找主语等活动，学生明白-ing

形式放在谓语动词前及在句型It be +adj. +doing sth,

It be no +n. +doing sth中作主语，并通过改写句子练习进行巩固。

Step 3 Learn the -ing form as the object 1.Fill in the blanks with the right forms of the words given and judge the component of the -ing forms. 2. Make a conclusion about the -ing form as the object.

According to the above exercises, we know the -ing form acts as the object after some verbs , phrases or prepositions.

3.Practice:

Describe the picture using -ing form as the object.

设计意图：本环节先让学生完成几道练习，并引导学生观察和总结-ing

形式放在某些动词和介词后作宾语，然后引导学生用-ing形式当宾语描述图片的内容，达到巩固的目的。

Step 4 Consolidation 1.Read the sentences from this unit and judge what component the -ing forms are.

2.Tell your partner your hobbies or dreams by using the following sentence patterns.

Doing … is my hobby/what I like most/my dream/what I want to do most.

So I like/enjoy/am good at/devote oneself to/ look forward to/practice/…doing…

设计意图：在巩固环节中，教师先呈现本单元阅读文章中含有-ing形式作主语或宾语的句子让学生判断，接着通过pair work活动，让学生学以致用，在运用中巩固，同时也训练了学生说的能力。

Step 5 Homework 1.Write a short passage which describes a person you love or respect, with at least four sentences with -ing forms used the subject or the object.

2.Find the other sentences used the -ing form as the subject or the object from the reading passage in this unit.

设计意图：通过课后作业，进一步巩固所学知识，提高学生的写作水平，培养学生独立自主地分析句子成分的能力。
