Teaching Procedures: Step 1. lead-in Hello, boys and girls！today we’ll deal with the cloze and passage C and D in comprehension. Now, please bring the paper out. Let’s look at the accurate rate of passage C and D. (T shows accurate rate of passage C&D to Ss) Purpose: to help the students know their weaknesses and make the learning target clear. Step 2. Analyze the questions

1. Discussion Have the Ss to discuss the difficulties and try to solve your problems in group of 4. Purpose: to help the students to improve their ability of cooperation and solve the other problems by themselves if necessary.

2. Present the results

Have Ss to voice their ways of solving Q46 Q47 Q52 Q54 by circling key words and then locating the information as accurately as they can.

Purpose: to help the students to grasp a proper skill to solve this kind of questions by locating the information in the passage as accurately as possible. Step 3. Analyze the cloze

1. Show accurate rate of the cloze test to Ss.

2. Let Ss check the answers and discuss the mistakes in groups of 4.

3. Help Ss clarify their puzzles. Purpose: to help Ss to solve the puzzles by reading from context

4. Ask Ss to find out the main idea of the passage.

5. Recognize the writing style of the passage 6. Appreciate beautiful sentences in the passage. Purpose: to help Ss improve reading skills of narrative by analyzing writing style and by finding basic information: when, where, who, what , why and how

7. Clarify the main elements of narrative and the way of writing a good narrative. Purpose: to help Ss to realize the importance of analyzing the elements of narrative in understanding the whole passage.
