Writing How to write a persuasive letter? Step 1

Teaching Content. 本单元的写作要求是根据学生Xiaodong的一封来信，以Miss Wang的口吻给他写一封回信。体裁属于说服性写作（Persuasive writing）范畴中的“建议信（letter of advice）”。话题“无法融入班集体，交友的苦恼”，涉及中学生成长中经常碰到并感到困惑的问题，题材贴近考生生活，属于开放性的话题，思维空间相对较大，有利于考生自主地发挥，运用自己的思维方式去解决问题。这符合书面表达的要求，即能够正确运用英语进行交际。

Step 2

Pay attention to the following points. 写作时应注意下面几点：

1.确定文体：这是一篇应用文，是考生熟悉的书信体，写作中注意书信的常规格式。

2.主体时态：文章中以一般现在时为主。

3.主体人称：由于给别人提出建议，所以人称应该以第二人称为主。

4.内容要点：①问题介绍；②建议一；③建议二；④建议⑤我的愿望。

5.注意恰当使用逻辑词语，使各个要点间逻辑连贯，行文通顺。

Step 5 Analyze. 本题要求写一封回信，谋篇布局时应注意以下几个步骤：

首先，回应来信中提出的问题，并分析原因。

其次，针对该问题，提出2-3条合理的建议并说明理由。

最后，写一两句结束语：希望我的建议对你有帮助。

特别要注意句与句、段与段之间的衔接要自然，逻辑要严密。适当地运用连词或副词等使句子或段落衔接紧密。

Step 6 Sample Dear Wang Wei,

I’ve learned from your blog that you are in low spirits recently. I’m writing to inspire you to cheer up.

First, staying up late is bad for your health and makes it difficult to concentrate on class the next day. Second, it doesn’t make sense to compare yourself with others because everyone is different from others physically and mentally. Third, since you are under great pressure, I strongly suggest you take regular exercise. Only by removing pressure properly can you make the most of your time and achieve your goal.
