Practice 1 Tell the logical relations between the sentences.
1) Self-image includes the way you look, 2)the way you act and the way you talk. 3)However, our self--images are often quite different from the images others hold about us.4) In fact, most of these images are more negative than they should be. 5)Thus changing the way you think about yourself is the key to changing your self-image.Make choice by the logical relations and the key words. Practice 2
When you need help, reach out to the people who care about you. Talk to a trusted adult, such as a parent or other relatives. ____They might have had similar problems. A.Ah, it feels so good when the stress is gone. B.You need to figure out what the problem is. C.And don't forget about your friends. Practice 3 Color is fundamental in home design——something you’ll always have in every room. A grasp of how to manage color in your spaces is one of the first steps to creating rooms you’ll love to live in. Do you want a room that’s full of life? Professional? Or are you just looking for a place to relax after a long day?____36____, color is the key to making a room feel the way you want it to feel. Over the years, there have been a number of different techniques to help designers approach this important point.____37____, they can get a little complex .But good news is that there’re really only three kinds of decisions you need to make about color in your home: the small ones, the medium ones, and the large ones. ____38____. They’re the little spots of color like throw pillows ,mirrors and baskets that most of us use to add visual interest to our rooms .Less tiring than painting your walls and less expensive than buying a colorful sofa ,small color choices bring with them the significant benefit of being easily changeable . Medium color choices are generally furniture pieces such as sofas, dinner tables or bookshelves ____39____. They require a bigger commitment than smaller ones, and they have a more powerful effect on the feeling of a space. The large color decisions in your rooms concern the walls, ceilings, and floors .Whether you’re looking at wallpaper or paint, the time, effort and relative expense put into it are significant.____40____. A. While all of them are useful
B. Whatever you’re looking for
C. If you’re experimenting with a color
D. Small color choices are the ones we’re most familiar with
E. It’s not really a good idea to use too many small color pieces
F. So it pays to be sure, because you want to get it right the first time
G. Color choices in this range are a step up from the small ones in two major ways Step3: Consolidating Methods Your house may have an effect on your figure . Experts say the way you design your home could play a role in whether you pack on the pounds or keep them off . You can make your
environment work for you instead of against you . Here are some ways to turn your home into part of diet plan. ________(1)_______. Dark environments are more likely to encourage overeating , for people are often less self-conscious(难为情)when they’re in poorly lit places-and so more likely to eat lots of food . If your home doesn’t have enough window light , get more lamps and flood the place with brightness.
_____(2)__________. Research suggests warm colors fuel our appetites . In one study , people who ate meals in a blue room consumed 33 percent less than those in a yellow or red room . Warm colors like yellow make tood appear more appetizing , while cold colors make us feel less hungry . So when it’s time to repaint , go blue.
______(3)___________.People who eat slowly tend to consume about 70 fewer calories(卡路里)
per meal than those who rush through their meals. Begin keeping track of the time, and try to make dinner last at least 30 minutes, And while you’re at it, actually sit down to eat. If you need some help slowing down , turn on relaxing music. It makes you less likely to rush through a meal.
______(4)_____________. Big serving bowls and plates can easily make us fat. We eat about 22 percent more when using a 12-inch plate instead of a 10-inch plate. When we choose a large spoon over a smaller one ,total intake(摄入)
jumps by 14 percent. And we’ll pour about 30 percent more liquid into a short, wide glass than a tall, skinny glass.
A.Don’t forget the clock.
B.Downsize the dishes.
C.Use warm colors.
D.Open the curtains and turn up the lights.
E.Mind the colors. F. Eat quickly. Step 4 homework
Finish the gap-filling exercise in the paper . Step 5 reflection
In this lesson ,I try to stimulate the students interest by adding a game at the leading-in part . and ,during the teaching process, I try to help the students to learn this lesson in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere . After learning this lesson , the students have already gained a whole frame about how to solve gap-filling questions, but at the same time ,they may have difficulty in solving some practical questions .so, after class ,they should do more exercises to get the hang of them .
