2. Students learn the differences in birthday culture between west and east, through some exercises about replacing months in different situations. At the same time, students know more about the meaning of the use of Teaching Goals prepositions (in and on), so as to make a summary themselves. Besides, students know the abbreviated pattern of each month. After that, they are able to practice with the knowledge in their daily life.

3. Emotionally, students know the different meanings of celebrating birthdays through learning this unit. They have also learnt how to give thanks to their mothers on their birthdays. 教

复习导入

Warm up,

1. Sing and act “Good morning” to students;

2. Sing and act《Happy Birthday to You》with students together;

3. Teacher shows the teaching cards about things that people make and activities that people do on their birthdays. Teacher writes the word “birthday” on the blackboard as PPT shows the related contents. Teacher makes a question like “What do you usually do on your birthday?”,naturally to put emphasis on the pronunciation of “birthday”,then to gradually lead the students to use the former sentence “I usually…” to make an answer. 4. Teacher puts the points on the blackboard, the make emphasis with signs beside the relevant pictures. Such as: I usually eat noodles and eggs/eat a birthday cake/light the candles/make a wish & so on。

5. PPT shows a picture about Spring Festival,then teacher asks “Which month is it?”

Students answer “January”. If students can not give the Review & Lead in correct answer,teacher can make some tips. 6.Teacher continues to show pictures about seasons,ask the students to make the answer with “I like January/February…”

2.Students’ Activities

1.Greet teachers in English;

2.Sing and act《Happy Birthday to You》with teacher;

3. Students talk with class about their birthday freely. They can list several ways of celebrating birthdays, according to the tips from the teacher. Any other students can make necessary addition to those ideas that collect from class, or even teacher can join the discussion if there are puzzled problems.

4. Students answer the questions from teacher in their practical way.

New Lesson

通过唱歌调动学生的气氛,通过复习旧知识唤起学生的开口愿望。

1. Teacher’s Activities

1. After reviewing, teacher says “My favorite month is April. Because my birthday is in April. When is your birthday?” Students give the answer as quickly as possible. Then teacher shows the English calendar to let the students guess the month according to the calendar.

2.To teach a new sentence,teacher may draw a birthday cake or make a birthday model, then repeat the word “birthday cake” or “eat a birthday cake” or “light a birthday cake.” After that, teacher may ask the question “When is your birthday?”

3. Teacher shows the e-calendar through PPT, students read each month, then make sentences “My birthday is in…”

4. Listen to the tape, students read and repeat the new words and sentences. This time, try to imitate the pronunciation correctly and exactly.

New Lesson

5. Teacher shows pictures about the activities on birthdays,according to kinds of answers from students. Then write another key sentence: What do you usually do on your birthday? Students make the answer “I usually…”

6. Make a discussion in groups “What do you usually do

on your birthday?” and “When is your birthday?” Students write their records on a piece of sheet. 7. Exercises. Let the students know about the abbreviation of each month. Make an emphasis on words’ pronunciations and spellings.

8. Game time (seek, hide and say). Teacher use the goal sentence to ask, then turn to students. Pay attention to Students’ quick response of the new knowledge. 9. Teacher shows the main roles of the passage, and then asks “Do you want to know when his birthday is? Please ask him/her.” Teacher plays the tape to lead the students to find the answer just through listening without opening books. Questions will be shown on PPT. “When is David’s birthday? What does he do on his birthday?” and remind them to use the verb’s singular form to answer those questions. (Don’t forget to add ~’s behind the verb) 10. Show the passage again, students repeat to the tape. Then fill the blank according to their quick memory. Students create a new dialogue with partners using new knowledge in groups. (Language knowledge offers on PPT) 2.Students’ Activities

1. Students answer the questions with the new language knowledge as much as possible under the necessary help from teacher. 2. Read the following words: January, February, March, April, May, June after teacher. Teacher can teach the students some helpful skills to keep the new words and sentences in good memory. Such as: story talks; homonym words. Students answer the question with “My birthday is in …”

3. Students learn the new sentences by free talks in cooperation. 4. Students act the dialogue in groups with their own works. The whole class chooses the best action groups, and then the well-welcomed actors or actresses will get the awards, which are self-made English calendars by themselves. 5. Group members finish the writing task in (Read and Write), then make a brief introduction with class. 通过教师提问,导入新学内容,学习新的月份单词.并由单词自由过渡到句型,让学生掌握新知识。一问一答充分体现师生之间的互动性,同时激发学生兴趣。
