Learning about Language Analysis of Teaching Material

This teaching period focuses on studying –ing form as subject and object, which is one of the key grammar items in English language. In order to stimulate students’ learning interest and motivation, the target grammar is set in an fundamentals.Besides, as a new grammar lesson, this teaching period puts an emphasis on students’

exploration of the application of the target grammar, which they all undertook by themselves in class.

Analysis of Students

Students have never learned the target grammar before, and they knew little the nonfinite verbs so not all student can express ideas by using the target grammar. The practice exercises

as well as the task are designed according to this academic background of students. Learning from the class enables students to learn the meaning, the form, the function of the –ing form as subject and object as well as the method of test points. Teaching Goal

Task I

doing”, “There is no….doing ” ect.

Step II –ing as Object

Using the passage to bring out the important usages, and some notices in this grammar points. Through the exercises to consolidate the importance and break through the difficulties.

Step III

sb’/sb –ing as Subject or Object

T: enlighten the students to translate the sentences and finish the exercises

S: answer the questions and remember the rules.

Make sentences then let the students understand how to use this form in filling blanks and correction. Step III Summary

Let students summarize the lesson in order to increase their memories. T: Ask one or two students to answer the question. Task IV Exercise in limited time
