Learning about language

一. 教材分析

( Lesson Plan) Warming-up and Words Step 1

Greetings Step 2

Lead-in

Play the short movie “Yuan Longping” to remind the students of the text.

(Students are asked to retell the text after the short movie.) Step 3

Discussion (group work) Students are divided into small groups and have a discussion. Task: Find out difficult words and expressions and write the words and expressions found on a piece of paper. Step 4

Display

The teacher will display some students’ paper by projector, and tick out the most useful words and expressions.

Step 5

Analyze

Teacher analyzes the important language points in the text and students are asked to finish the related exercise.

On some occasions, teacher can give the Chinese and ask the students to do the translation. On others, teacher can ask the student to fill in the blanks with the given words or phrases. Besides, teacher can organize the student to have a competition about doing the exercise. Last but not least, student can speak out their confusion or put forward their own questions and then ask other students to work them out.

Step 6

Conclusion Make a conclusion of what students have learned in this period and remind them of the phrases. Then ask the students to work in groups of four to create a passage by using the words and phrases learned in class.
