There are lots of jokes in English about school life. Read these two to see whether you will laugh or not.

1. Big Head.

Little Robert asked his mother for two cents. "What did you do with the money I gave you yesterday?" "I gave it to a poor old woman," he answered. "You're a good boy," said the mother proudly. "Here are two cents more. But why are you so interested in the old woman?"

1．Reading and translating

Read the paragraph on page 22 and translate it into Chinese sentences by sentences.

Reading and underlining

Next you are to read the paragraph and underline all the useful expressions or collocations in it. Copy them to your notebook after class as homework. Step III. Guided Speaking and acting

Think of funny English stories and share them with your group mates. （培养学生的思维想象力，语言组织能力，以及听说的能力，让学生大胆的用英语表达出来，让学生想学英语，想讲英语，给学生敢于表现的机会。）

Step IV. Guided Writing—Learn to write jokes There are two main parts to the structure of a joke.

1. The first prepares you for the laugh by telling a story which creates a sense of expectation.

2. The second part of the joke, the punch line, provokes laughter by telling an unexpected and different story, yet one which is still compatible with the first,. 3. To write jokes ，you need to practice reading statements and writing down the ways you make about them. You must be able to interpret the statement

in at least two different ways in order to provide the second, different stories

the punch line. And what to write about? Anything that interests you. Anything you have strong opinions about. Now write down your own jokes in English. After ten minutes, let students show their stories each other.（教学设计的目的:让学生了解笑话的结构，篇幅短小，故事情节简单而巧妙，往往出人意料，取得笑的艺术效果。

Step V.Homework

Ask students to make a new joke in English and share it with your friends.
